Well, folks, we survived the tornado that hit Woodward ... 65 years and 1 day since the last killer tornado to hit this town. This time, the tornado hit the west side of town instead of the east side where we live.
However, along with trying to get my gardens planted and some arrangements for the rabbits, I have been spending most days the past 2 weeks hauling and sorting and loading debris from the homes of 3 friends who lost their homes in the tornado. Only one house took a direct hit and the family (3 little toddlers) was not home ... if they were, the Emergency Management guy said they would have all died. I believe him as the house was the one they show that was nothing but a slab covered with shattered walls and 2x4s.
Two other friends lost their homes to secondary damage ... high winds slammed the debris of the houses the tornado actually hit into their homes. One had the whole back side of the house caved in and just yesterday, the insurance adjuster totalled the whole house and they will have all compensation inlcuding contents.
The last friend is still working on convincing the adjuster to total her house. She actually rode the tornado out in the house, but had a storm shelter and was in that. As it is, the damage was mostly cracked bricks and mortar and blown windows, but we have finally got all the contents cleared out and hauled to her parents barn so the adjuster can inspect for structural damage.
Now, all we have left to do is sort through the personal belongings that we salvaged from the other two places to see if anything is worth saving. Luckily, most of the family photos and documents were digitized and stored in a bank box, so the adjuster now has a copy of that for inventorying the contents.
Also, we had softball/baseball size hail two nights before and only one windshield on my work truck was shattered, and a couple of dings that won't come out on the other two vehicles.
I have a green sticker on the work truck right now as proof that a police officer has inspected my windshield and deemed it safe to drive, and I also have another Emergency Management access sticker that allows me to drive into the damaged neighborhoods and no cost at the local landfill.
As I was born and raised in Oklahoma and this tornado was not my first time at that particular rodeo, but the sudden loss of personal belongings is very hard on folks. Some are starting to take advantage of the mental health services available through our Emergency Management office. It is still somewhat shocking at times to drive into the neighborhoods and see all the houses just gone ... and the damage on others.
For all those who sent personal messages, thank you so very much for thinking about me. Your concern and prayers are very much appreciated!

Anneclaire; I have to honestly say I am SO happy to see you posting again, and know that you are alright. I've wondered since that mess of tornadoes, how you were doing, but had no way to get in touch. Most of that missed us, but I knew you had to have some damage in that area, as it appeared they went through there, OR were awfully close. Bless you for going to the aid of your friends & neighbors who obviouslly have lost so much. I cannot imagine how devastating it is to have everything just gone in just minutes. What a shock for everyone concerned. Anyway, take care of yourself now, and glad to see you back!!!

so glad to see ya back! And Bless you for helping others less fortunate than yourself... We too have been to that particular rodeo--- have lucked out on those but had friends who lost --some more than others... But its really a wonderful thing to see people set aside their petty differences and help out their neighbors .

Well nothing exciting happened to me, except giving up gardening for 2013. It was the drought of 2012 that discouraged me. But I'm back to "gently gardening" this year, just starting up again but nothing big, really slow and easy, main things I've planted this year were tatsoi and daikon radishes ... and I've got a few tomatoes and pepper plants started so far in the house. And the other thing that happened was getting on Facebook. Addictive, that. But I'm layin' off the FB for awhile, maybe forever. lol.

OMG so my Jeep wasn't starting all the time so took that in. Daves truck is all over the road so made an appt. to get that in thought if I didn't have my jeep yet he could take the car. Well then the engine light comes on in the car! OMG!! So I stopped in at our mechanics and she said well they almost have the jeep done so if they get it don'e today then we can switch vehicles. Well she didn't call till almost 6 pm. But in the mean time I went to deposit a big check in the ATM at the bank. Yea it sucked my check in and gave me a number to call because theres a problem! So I went in they will call me when they figure it all out , but in the mean time will deposit the money.

Well Dave has been so sick, he has taken a medical leave, he had a CT scan the other day and found it is his Gall Bladder, whew! What a relief that was to hear, so the 25th he has surgery he also has to have a Ultra sound Monday. Takes forever to get anything done with Drs. and tests.

I had my gall bladder out. He's not fakin' it. Threw up every time I tried to eat. He's gonna have to knock off the fats he's used to. The GB is what helped digest those fats.
he'll feel better post surgery. Give him a hug, but don't say its from me.

Lol Coppice! His surgery is the 6th! The 25th was consultation. Takes forever to get all this crap done! It will be a Robotic surgery. 1 hole! Lol it's gunna be cool! If you want a surgery to be cool! I know he's not faking it. He doesn't do that. He has never taken a Medical leave before in his life! But has now. I have my Gall Bladder out also. Was not having the extreme pain like he is. No stones but full of sludge. He is eating better has not lost any more weight since the last time he seen the dr. He is eating a nice bland diet. No fat.
