KentuckyGardenGirl here! Spending my days here in West Kentucky planning my spring garden. I planted a couple of Italian Pepperoncini seeds yesterday just so I'd have something to putter with, watch grow while I'm waiting for Spring. Golly I hope spring arrives early this year and doesn't slam us with the flooding like it did last Spring. I love the anticipation of it all...but I wish it would happen a little faster

I'm Betty and I live and garden in the northern Catskills of NY state. As you can tell, I love herbs! But, I also grow fruits and veggies and flowers. Really, if it is a plant, how can you not like it?? We had some pretty major flooding with Irene. Next year will be spent rebuilding and reworking the gardens.

"chilesprout" here, good to see so many I remember. I'm in inland California and have been missing on the gardening forums for a long time. I needed to focus on the indoor stuff of life and kid stuff. But I'm getting a jump on the New Year and bringing my garden back to life. Planning for and looking for perennial veggies this time around. And a bean teepee and a tomato tunnel. See you all around!

Texadus here. We're in NE Texas.
We garden for ourselves and our local farmers market.
We also raise animals and make goats milk soap.
We have 10 children, 8 still living at home from age 3-22, 1 granddaughter and 1 on the way.
This is our 20th year of homeschooling.
We have a nice winter garden going with lettuce, spinach, cabbage, greens, broccoli, turnips, beets, radishes, kale, onions, and carrots going right now....
We were out today readying to plant sugar snap peas and more onions.

Hello from NE Tn! My name is Dusty (yes, it’s my real name).
I garden about 1000 sq feet organically (actually more than organic) most of it raised beds that hubby put together from found wood. Have layin hens now but want to raise rabbits, a pig and possibly goats as well as turkey, fryers and ducks (slow but sure!).
I quilt, sew, make soap, and make lampwork beads (for money and fun!). Am really into holistic medicines and grow a lot of herbs for that purpose but haven’t actually done much yet. Canned the garden last year, got a new pressure canner and am canning wild game. I buy as little processed food as I can, make all my bread and rolls as well as pasta. I really want a “Grain Maker” so I can grind organic non GMO flour but can’t afford that now so I do what I can.
Guess that bout sums up who I am and what I (try) to do. Happy to be here!

Hey, I just got a message to join. ^_^ I don't know much to say. I'm from the sticks in Missouri. I have been married for 4 years (to a city boy that I'm trying to convert ^_^) I ave two young boys. Aydyn is almost 3 and Gryfynn is 8 months old. I am a stay at home mom and student. I am going to school for Elementary and Special Education. So, life is pretty busy. As far as gardening goes, I don't get to do near as much as I'd like. I am really into herbal medicine and am striving to buy land and make it self sufficient. I am aiming to build a cordwood/strawbale house and live off the grid. Nice to meet ya'll!

Howdy, Retired about 4yrs ago. Spent the last 3yrs building a strawbale home along with our youngest son and his family, all 6 of us live here and while I never want to do it again, it was a good experience and we love it. Now I fish, garden and get to do all the cooking at all the hunting camps my two sons set up. Grandma still runs a library at local gradeschool, can't talk her into retiring. I think she enjoys it! We have 1.5 acres across the road that am thinking about starting an orchard on. In this arid climate I have to irrigate all the time, but we have a fantastic well, so the only cost is just maintenance and electricity to run the pump.

Howdy ;D
Tita from south central Texas. Steered to this forum by coppice.
I have a home on 6 acres & I'm trying to put in as many edible perennial and/or self seeding annual/biennial plants as I can manage to keep alive & kickin'. The drought isn't helping me any... I haven't been very successful so far, but I've only been working at it for about a year. Maybe I'll get better at it as I get more experience under my belt. ;D
