The babies are growing ... should be ready to butcher at the end of the month. Drumstick (mama doe) had 12 today ... 11 alive and one DOA.
The fiber angora had a "hay moustache" today after I gave her some loose hay so she should kindle tonight! I hope!

OK, English Angora doe had 5 or 6 babies today as I was watching LOL I didn't get a good count but will tomorrow when I check and weigh all the babies.
It looks like I will have to foster a few from the meat rabbit to the angora to balance out the load ;D

Ok, babies are 11 and 12 days old, all are doing good, eyes are starting to open. The older bunnies are at 5# butcher weight. Thinking about whether to go ahead and breed the angora doe one more time before the heat of the summer. Will be breeding the meat doe again before she goes to freezer camp. Have a breeding trio of Silver Fox rabbits coming next month, but they won't be old enough to breed for another couple of months, so may do another couple of meat rabbit litters just so I can get into the routine of breeding, raising, buchering, etc.

Well, I went ahead and butchered out 7 of the 11 meat rabbits, sold 2 and kept a buck and a doe for that program. Decided that the mama is not going to freezer camp since we lost the guard dog ... really need her aggressiveness to keep the babies safe! Also, one doe of the Silver Fox trio came up with a show disqualification, so the breeder went ahead and sold the other two and will have a show quality breeding trio for me at Nationals in Wichita this fall. I hate to wait, but for the quality of stock I will be getting, it is better to wait than to try to force it as that never works out for me LOL Also, the pelts from the first butcher are AMAZING!!! The hair is longer than a regular rabbit and so soft and luxurious ... oooooh, I will be tawing them this fall when I get enough for a couple of vats of processing. My current litter of meat rabbits are 7 weeks old and have another 5 to go before butchering. Right now, I am using them as lawnmowers in a moveable pen I made from a roll of hardware cloth and 4 rebar stakes LOL Also, I fried the first batch of rabbit quarters last night and the kid has eaten 6 pairs (3 bunnies LOL) and I have eaten 2 bunnies
