I started mine on the 8th of January and low and behold they are growing like crazy. Potted em up once all ready and now I am going to have to do it again to seperate em.
I went to the moon phase thing a week later and low and behold the prime days were the 7 8 9th of January so a blind squirrel does find a nut every now and then lol.

Dobber, I've been planting my seedlings and transplanting them outdoors by the Moon phases for 4 years or more now. I think it works. Glad it did well for you.

Alright, so you had me all worked up about seed starting so I went downstairs and dug out all the seed bins. Got the tomato, eggplant, pepper and herbs to start. Then I discovered that I might not have to buy seeds at all this year, (what was I thinking...I have a large Rubbermaid bin full of seeds, lol). I have Italian and Oriental greens mixtures, so strike those off my shopping list. I was thinking of buying new seed for Red Kuri but I have a bag full of those so I'm testing germination. So it looks like the only ones I'll need to pick up are Calendula and Nasturtiums. I think I can handle that, lol

I planted seeds of Tomato, Peppers (hot and sweet), Eggplant, Calendula, Holy Basil, Sweet Basil and Purple Basil today. 56 cells in all. It looks like so few considering what I've been planting since the mid80's, but I'm being realistic and planting what I have room for. Some of the seed dated back several years, so I planted extras. Any that grow, I'll donate to the Community Garden Network. Oh and BTW, today the moon is in Taurus, so a good day for planting. Three days from now (in Cancer) would have been best, but youze guys got me all riled up to plant so I took the plunge. www.ommas-aarden.net/perp_lunar_garden.htm

I haven't started any maters yet, but I got my pots and cardboard tubes loaded with bunny poo and setting outside in the spring storm we are having tonight to get wetted down ... the bunny poo is really dry LOL
I am thinking I might go ahead and start seed next week!
I also couldn't figure out what I was going to use as the tray for these until I spied one of the drop trays I am not using on the outdoor bunny cages ... perfect!
