My friend and I went to a flea market yesterday and a antique place and I found these great lil finds .. The best one in my eyes is the lil basket it is a pine needle basket ... I want to learn how to make them .... So cool it was 10 bucks, best price I had seen all day the bag was 15.00 I have been looking for one like that for a while talked down from 20. the lil wooden vase was 5.. it is so very cute it has a lil glass tube so you can use it the boxes were a buck a piece I love boxes they are made from some kind of stone I am not sure, they are heavy ..

The one box obviously has a carving of a horse, but the other I originally thought to be Kokopelli, the fertility god. But look at this, from Wikipedia: "similar humpbacked figure is found in artifacts of the Mississippian culture of the U.S. southeast. Between approximately 1200 to 1400 AD, water vessels were crafted in the shape of a humpbacked woman. These forms may represent a cultural heroine or founding ancestor, and may also reflect concepts related to the life-giving blessings of water and fertility." Since you are in the Southeast, perhaps you've discovered an ancient carving of the Gulfcoast Water Goddess? Whatever they are, they look adorable!

Good work there, Wendy, and some awesome finds. I would love to make those pine needle baskets, but geeeez. It looks like it would take patience that I don't have. I loooove baskets, tho...... I've been in such a slump that I can't even get going on the projects I have waiting for me. Ugh. Need sun. ;D

bella, the only thing with the pine needle baskets, the pine needles are very long come from the coastal areas and well I am not sure where to get them they are between 10-12 inches long .. I guess I may have to buy them on line ....

Yeah, darn, I noticed that when googling. All we have is some type of cedar or juniper, so guess they would have to be ordered.
Thought it would be fun to make some; my daughter loves baskets, too. Might be a fun gift!!

Alll very nice stuff!!! Mom used to crochet a bath bar soap holder similier to your camera bag. But she would add a turtle head and feet for grins. I even saw them with goose necks and heads or swans with wings. Now that was way back in the 50s when I was a wee child! everything old is new again!
