So what are you picking out of your garden?
Today the DH and I had out first kohlrabi out of the garden. I also picked the first of the snap peas. This weekend, I'll be picking greens (collards and kale) and blackberries.
What's ripe in your garden?

No sense being jealous your turn will come. Hahahha ---- I learned early to give each kid their own little bucket. Now they didn't put many berries in there, and sometimes looked over in the others lil bucket to see or swipe any berrys that had made it into the bucket by accident.

Loved your tale of berry picking, w8n! I have two shih tzus that like to raid my strawberry patch. It's the first place they go when I bring them up to the garden. I think they've eaten more strawberries than the DH & I!

Pulled about half of my white Navy bean plants and got them hung to dry ... will try to do the other half tomorrow AM.
Thinking I might pick a Clemson Spineless okra pod tomorrow ... it was about as long as my thumb tonight, so don't want it getting much bigger.
Will pick the french green beans again tomorrow and check the pickling cukes to see if any are gherkin size yet or not ;D

I wish I knew how easy it was to grow collards years ago! I picked some more collards and kale last night, along with snap peas and a few blackberries.
My pole beans are just starting to climb.
I'm a little jealous about the eggplant and tomatoes, Marielouise!
Big bummer about the tree rats, Gulfcoastguy.

Blueberries!!! I have one tiny bush. I have three others I've been trying to get going. My husband has hit that bush with the lawn mower. Deer have sat on it. Bunnies have munched on it. I think I've had it for 8 years now. Last year and the three years prior it put out one berry (it had a mate but it died last year.) I would proudly eat that berry in the garden! This year its putting out berries! I actually shared a few with the DH (even though he is undeserving since he hit it with the lawn mower long ago when it was barely more than a twig.)
I'm so happy! I love blueberries!

Cucumber beetles off the melons, squash and pumpkins. Not any on the Bitter Melon plant which is supposed to be a Trap plant for Cucumber beetles? Whoever told me that apparently was never in my garden.

A trickle of strawberries, and some peaches this past week. I've got 10 good looking pears on the tree, but they are still very firm so it'll be awhile before they're ready to eat.

Corn won't be ready around here for a few weeks yet.
Today I picked my first of the season broccoli as well as Chinese cabbage. I'm still getting greens, beans and kohlrabi too.

Just picked my first 3 vine-ripened Liz Birt tomatoes. Also have a couple Barlow Japs, that can use another day on the vine. Might not seem like much to you southerners, but this is about the latest my tomatoes have taken to begin ripening. I expect to see many turning color this coming week... I guess I should do a happy dance or something similar. Enjoy! Camo

This past week I have picked Silver Queen sweet corn and we have had 18 ears for supper meals, I canned 11 pints, and blanched and froze a dozen perfect ears for the winter, and gave away another dozen ears to friends.
I am still getting french green beans, but those poor bush beans are really struggling in the hot sun even though I cool the foliage at noon with cold water. I am surprised at how steady they have produced, and if I can find them in a pole bean, I would definitely make them part of my regular planting.
Cucumbers for pickling and slicing ... mmmmmm, sunshine dill pickles, bread and butters, sweets, relish ... mmmm.
And OKRA!!!!! I am picking enough of the Milsap White every other day for me and the ex to have fried okra for supper. The Clemson Spineless is still ramping production up, so I will probably be pickling some of it later this month.

The past couple days seeing everything turning ripe. I've picked a half dozen more Liz Birt's, a few Barlow Japs, a Tarasenko6, and a Cowlick BW. I'm sure I'll have most of the others by the end of this week. It took long enough this year but finally I'm getting ripe tomatoes! Enjoy! Camo

I envy you that are still getting tomatoes, mine are done for but have seeds started for fall planting. All I'm getting now are bush marrow squash, red noodle beans and yellow doll watermelons. Looking forward to armenian cukes, dragon tongue and yellow wax beans soon.
