An' this is making the dietitians request for brown (ick) rice um, ah, about as popular as a shot of antibiotics. *Sigh* Here is a first incarnation of what I hope will become a brown rice pilaf. 1/4 cup wild rice 3/4 cup water Run this lot together till water is all drunk up by rice in microwave (about 12 minutes in 3 minute shots) 1/2 cup brown rice 1/2 cup minced onion, green & red pepper 2 cups water About 24 minutes in six minute shots in the microwave. I expect I will be tweeking this through several iterations till I get something I'm willing to choke down.

At first, hubby wasn't too fond of brown rice, but that is what I usually make now. I really have developed a taste for it and rarely eat white rice any more. I use all kinds of veggies--in addition to the onions and peppers, use mushrooms, finely shredded or grated carrot, summer squashes, celery--whatever is on hand. Never could stomach the wild rice though . I also have to have at least a small amount of some kind of fat, either butter, olive oil or grapeseed oil.

I like the taste of brown rice better than white. Just add some tamari, mushrooms, black pepper, butter or olive oil, and garlic when cooking it. Tastes "nuttier" to me. Lately though I've been cooking some purple rice with rotel, onion, and sharp cheese.
