It is 3ΒΊ here now , Dave had to take the Jeep because the truck is diesel and needs to be plugged in when it is this cold. The car won't make it thru our driveway untill it is plowed. I don't want Dave out there Plowing when it is that cold! And he has been sick. So it is what it is, worse things can happen. 3 years ago I had a broken wrist, temps in the single digits and my power went out. So counting my lucky stars right now. Look at Tuesdays forcast.

The sun is shining and it is merely cold as heck. Sunday through Tuesday will be the penultimate cold spell.
I have to dump the furnace condensate in the sink, but that is the only drain frozen.

To all our friends up north. Be careful with this new bit of frigged air coming .More snow then incredibly low wind chill factors. Word came to me Bryan Ohio will be getting -45 windchill factors Monday.Keep an eye out for elderly residents and family. Indy is supposed to hit -11 Monday for the high temp.Very concerned for you all.Stay safe keep warm and bundle up extra good if you need to go out.

I've got everything turned up to eleven. The old shack will either stay warm, or catch afire.

I don't know what will happen when he has to go boom boom!! He is shivering in the house now. My Mom had sheltie who hated getting his fur wet. One day it had been storming all day. Mom opened the back door and told Sparky to go do his business. He slunk out to the edge of the car port then turned around and backed his rear end out behind the shrubs just far enough to miss the concrete. My Trudy would go to her dog door and stick her head out the flap , back in and go climb onto her pillow.

Well, I guess I have bragging rights here - I am on the Cdn prairie/boreal forest border (50 degrees latitude). However, it's all relative. We are more accustomed to, and prepared for, this kind of baloney. All we have to do is pray real hard that the electricity doesn't go, because our electric fans distribute the heat from our wood burning stove. No fans = huddling around the stove + houseplants may expire. But even this is still better than people in U.S. experiencing what is not so bad to us. It's what you are familiar with that matters, right? RIGHT? Even so, the house is coldish in the evenings (just can't get it comfortably warm when the sun sets), which translates into wearing 3 or 4 layers of clothing and reading all those beautiful seed catalogues for distraction. Johnny's Selected Seeds(even with all their damn hybrids now) and Baker Creek are best. So, I'm thinking of all you southerners.

It's 11 degrees here right now. The windchill was -2 a little while ago. Supposed to get several inches of snow late tonight into tomorrow. Spring is a long way off. Anybody got any warm weather they can send north? We have been on "house arrest" (AKA Ohio's Level 3 snow emergency...no driving except for essential services)for the last 3 days! Talk about cabin fever! I lived in a high mountain valley for 2 years in southern Colorado where it was 30 below about 7 months of the year...nobody went into a frenzy there! I think it's time for some seed catalogs to start arriving to brighten up our days, don't you?

Hubbs lost 3 days of work when that level 3 hit. Mi. doesn't do levels but they still considered the Monday and Tuesday a snow day! He also could not work on Wednesday because of the ice in Monroe County. It was awful! Hubbs was on the e way on the way to work, there was an accident. He sat in the same spot for an Hr. So as soon as he could get to an exit he came home. This week he is working 10's of course snow showers ... Sometimes I think he should stay up there when it is nasty out!
