I have the first round of tomatoes (just a few to go out early) and some of my peppers done. I need to get the rest of the peppers and the eggplant seeded. Artichoke, too! The rest of the tomatoes and other warm season crops need to wait a bit yet. No room to keep them indoors if they outgrow Solo cups!

I have several tomatoes and a few peppers planted and petunias. Ended up being short on pepper seeds so I need to order some seeds.

My peppers are starting to come up - most of the bells and sweet peppers are up and the jalepenos just starting, but there is no sign of Tabascos yet (they tend to be a little pokey).
I got some new seeds today: Tiburon (an Ancho type) and NuMex Orange Suave (a habanero with almost no heat). They will go in the seed starting mix tomorrow.

Tiburon and NuMex Orange Suave peppers are up. Tomorrow I will be potting up some of the first tomatoes and peppers. I say tomorrow because by then it will be warm enough to start hardening off my cool-season veggie seedlings. I need their space under the lights for the up-potted plants, and to start the main crop tomatoes.
If the forecast looks good, in a week or so I will start hardening off the "suicide troopers" so they can get transplanted under Kozy Koats mid-month. The "suicide troopers" are a few tomatoes I started extra-early. We usually don't have hard freezes after mid-February and hopefully the Kozy Koats will keep them warmer in the daytime and get them through the remaining frosts. It's an experiment to try see if I can start tomato season earlier. Might be they will die, might be they will sulk and not really produce any earlier than the main crop tomatoes. I'll know soon enough.

Aaaaahhhhhh! (sigh of relief)
I couldn't take the doldrums of winter anymore! We're suppose to get 6-10" of snow from Tuesday night to Wednesday morning! So today I started pansies, petunias, tomatoes, eggplants and hot peppers. Its way early for the veggies. I usually don't start them until the end of February and even that's early for my area.
Here's the list so far: * New varieties to me EGGPLANT: Diamond Dusky (old seeds) Snowy* Traviata* Ukrainian Beauty (old seeds)
HOT PEPPERS: Ethiopian Brown Berbere Jalepeno Maya Red Habanero Ring of Fire Cayenne
TOMATOES: Aunt Gertie's Gold* Black & Brown Boar* Black Cherry Black Icicle* Depp's Pink Fire Fly* (old seeds) Martino Roma* Matt's Wild Cherry Rose D'Eauze* Rutgers
Don't ask me what I'm going to do if they all germinate!

So far Black Icicle tomatoes & Rutgers have popped up. Some others I didn't mention above that have sprouted are broccoli (I don't know want kind), cabbage (I think its organic red) and a perennial geranium (Splish Splash). Nothing like seeing the little seedlings to help take away the winter blues! Something helpful I just ran into; here's a 1 comprehensive chart for seed starting! tinyurl.com/lqkh9wf

I finally got everything started last friday, a bit late compared to the usual. I think that spring will be late this year though and I didn't want pot bound plants.

All but one of the tomato plants in the second batch of tomato babies are up. So are some of the tomatillos and pineapple tomatillos. Looks like I get to haul the older tomato and pepper seedlings back inside Wednesday and probably Thursday nights.

I always start waaaayyyyyy too many seedlings. I'm sure I'm not alone. Where do you put them while you're waiting for warmer weather to hit and can put them outside? I have them in 3 different rooms now (part of the living room, half of the dining room table and in the work out (spare bed room.) I still have lots to repot which will take up more room.

i have a large glass sliding door with several glass full length windows that face west. I have some metal shelves that i can put up to about 20 1 gallon pots on in aluminum pans so I can bottom water I can hold about 50 plants per shelf. Then right out the door a few feet away and right back in if it gets cold. Low 50's right now so moving them out side. I really only need 5 or 6 mater plants but I have 50 or more cant help myself I have re potted some 3 times all ready lol.
The curtains covering the windows will wrap around the outside of the shelf so they are like insulated. Amazing how fast they grow when i move from under grow lights to this window area.
