Thank you Red This variety of Almond is call all in one it's a self fertile/self pollinating almond They are a semi dwarf tree they will grow about 10 to 12 feet tall they will need hot summer to Ripen and they are late for Almonds they should be ready to eat by October now that the tree is Blooming I may be wrong But I think I should start giving it a fertilizer high in Phosphorus

ok I been a treeing it today. as these are nut related and or kinda nuttish?grins i'll put it here...? I dropped a bunch of chestnut seeds today.4 lbs worth. also dropped some seeds I was gifted... some California coastal oak......shagbark hickory......and some macadamia nuts..... I know the oak and shags will be ok here. as I mentioned to linn in the fruit tree thread? I have some macadamia seedlings that appear to be more cold tolerant? we've had several dips into high 20's low 30's this year and a few of these lil guys is still green and kicking.....? thought they were more tropical.....?

Back in the bad old days of WW-II Italian chestnut flour was what there was for more than a few-for their pasta.

as we get closer to where I want to be compost wise? I have to wonder about prepping future soil sites for production. obviously with our temps and drought periods there is no way in hell to irrigate an acre of trees. not at this time...... so we go back to massive amounts of organics and maybe hugecultur...... the last being labor intensive...not to mention resource consuming...sighs... maybe trains hole by hole method would be a better approach here?

depending on what the various nut trees do?germinating...lol I plan on cutting into the back property ...the forest of bushy scrubby native stuff. making ley lines ...hacking paths...clear the paths and backfill with leaves.plant the babies there. figure they will be protected from heat and cold extremes while they grow. I know the chestnuts will eventually eclipse the roachy trees as they mature as will the walnut...[English]

The chestnut came from an outfit (wait for it) out of Free Soil Michigan. I've always bought trees at least from someplace else (and colder) than me.
Oh my poor tree babies. This winter has killed some I'm sure.

Sunshine and I went to Companion Plants of Athens OH, t'other day to go herb (seed shopping. I had a longish list from the two most active N4S'ers as well as my own.
A whole office fulla herb seeds.
While we were there the Sapling-In-Chief presented me with a pignut. Now of all the Carya this has to be about the most common of hickory. Still if you are seeking some to plant out PLMK.

Still kicking Copp I had six or so miniature walnut trees up from last year If I can dig up yu need any ? Once they are fully asleep, yes. Castenea pumilla aka Allegheny Chinkapin will ship soon. It has already germinated, you will need to plant it ASAP. Drying it or freezing it will just kill it. This tree is on the big end of understory trees. (30 to 40 ft) tall.
