A lot of times I miss what ever is the distinction between one figure skater (or couple) from the next. Our current gold medalists were obvious even to me, how good they skated.

Sliding rocks around on ice, as done by young women. I'm not so sure its a sport, but its sure easy on my eye bones.

I can't get over the skeleton. I mean, how does a person decide it's a good idea to hurtle down an ice track face-first at 70+mph, with your chin a quarter-inch above the surface? Does anyone really think the helmet is going to help if somebody wipes out? I figure the helmet is mostly for aerodynamics and to protect their eyes from the wind so they can see where they're going. You know how some sports have helmet cams? I bet you'll never see that on skeleton - imagine millions of people having motion sickness and/or panic attacks at the same time? And moguls...whenever I see that sport my knees start to hurt just from watching. Owww....I figure those folks are all going to need double knee replacements in their 40s. On the other hand, ski jumping looks like fun. Soaring 100+ meters...cool. They even make the landings look easy, though I am sure they are not. The ski aerials were fun, too. I am used to seeing crazy stunts on skateboards and snowboards, but this is the first time I've watched people do flips and spins on skis. I'm a longtime figure skating fan. The ice dancing is nice, too. The best ones make the near-impossible look easy, don't they? And they do it all with great big smiles on their faces. Good stuff. Though I wish there was more sports and less yapping on the TV coverage.

Olympics is like the Boston Pops. I feel like I'm just about smart enough to watch the show. Fifteen minutes of cannon-fire and I'm full of classical music.
