been sitting in the front yard with a canepole tied to a donut. them flies hit the donut but reeling em in is pure hell....... grins quit planting ideas in my head...or i'll have to try it ! never fished for flies but have hunted them. still hoping for a nice horsefly trophy for mounting purposes. get your red ryder out and fill it with bb's. just be forewarned you really should wear a welders mask. those bb's sting when they carom off the wall,tv,lamps etc. of course you'll have to do this when the lady of the house is out. your little lady is prolly big enough to grab your ear and drag ya outside and make ya confine your hunting trips past the thresh hold. p.s. don't use rubber bands, your trophy just ends up jelly on the wall. you'll find that same little lady handing you a cleaning cloth and a can of paint to nullify your fun.

eiously any of yals fly fish? watchya use? where? I envy those of you who can fish fer salmon or big steelies...ect..... or a bigggggggggggg musky.............. i sure have done and enjoy flyfishing. even tie my own flies, streamers, spinners, etc. although thats been a while. got a big supply. never fished for steelhead with a fly but have landed a few salmon. one of these days i will have to plan a trip and target steelies. usually i'm after salmon and steelies aren't in or out of season, etc. i do know a place in houston where i've caught steelies , and nice ones at that if ya wanna plan a trip. just find houston,,british columbia and your there. very nice locals and they'll get ya started as for where and what they be bitin'. for the most part i use more conventional tackle. i use whatever is gonna put the most fish at my feet. late summer does usually bring the fly rod as it works best. just not a strict purist. fishing the frying pan river in colorado proved this big time. a guide had a dude purist telling his client what fly to use where the fish were laying and well being the all knowing guide. while they were flailing the water i used a home tied spinner and landed 6 trout from 3 to nearly 8 pounds almost right across from them in only maybe 10 casts. in all that time catching, playing and landing the dude caught 1 trout that wasn't over 12 inches for sure. i made 2 or 3 casts after my last fish and decided to make a move. i wished the dude luck and said i think they quit biting here. walked down to the bend an immediately landed another 4 pounder and proceeded to work my way down out of their sight. couldn't help but grin when i wasn't facing them. i'll use a chunk of cheese if thats what they want.

Think I have enough bits and pieces to go fly fishing this weekend with kiddo.lol River is dropping and it has been warm. Think I'll give her a 8 wt battenkill and a Fenwick 8 wt rod I got to start. I'll throw my vortex on my new old florida rod or the trident. Unsure yet.
