Don't usually knit in summer months. Too hot and too busy with the gardening. But I just started a sweater cuz it's an autumn colour of yarn (burnt orange). Ran afoul of the pattern last night. Hopefully, I can figure out what I've done wrong?

Do the legs chirrup on the way down?
I haven't been doing much sewing at all lately-it was too hot here too. Now it is like perfect summer weather... upper 70's and low 80's during the day and upper 50's lower 60's during the nights... makes for gooooood sleeping. I got to get all the pictures off my phone into my new laptop.. then I can show you the oompa loompa costumes from last springs school musical.

I received a magazine in the mail today from a Friend in NYS. It's a Woman's Day Super Special Edition of Granny Squares, Gifts for the Holidays 1974. It's in awesome shape.
It has some Really U-G-L-Y stuff (I can't believe I dressed like that) but some other incredibly beautiful projects. There are crocheted ponchos and granny square full length (maxi) skirts as well as the usual hats and mitts.
When we were at the Fox Run Garlic Festival in the Finger Lakes 2010, one of the vendors there was wearing a granny square skirt which I just fell in love with. Now that I'm taking crochet lessons I guess FP saw this magazine and figured it was time I made my own. Not this week, lol, but I'm working towards it.
Can't wait to take this magazine to Crochet Class. The others will have a hoot looking through it I'm sure.

It's always fun to see some of those old magazines. You are right about the fashions back then, some were pretty bad! I had heard that Granny Squares are coming back. Here is a good site for free Crochet patterns and other crochet information: www.allfreecrochet.com/ml/1

Thanks Colojd, I've never seen that site before. I am a member (albeit silent one) at Crochetville and Ravelry. Our Instructor shares patterns, as do some of the other members in the class so I have no lack of potential projects. I just need the knowledge and practice to make them all.

LOL - I have several magazines left over from the 1960s and 1970s ... the colors might be a little outdated (although, there are plenty who will wear that gold/avacado green), but the patterns are still good for today. BLR, wait until the Acquisition Bug bites ... I collect several crochet magazines that are no longer in print, hooks, and, of course, thread and yarn. And then, there are the truely vintage patterns to collect ;D And, if you want some real eye-candy, try www.antiquepatternlibrary.org ... just be sure you have several hours to spend browsing LOL
