No, I am not allowed to save any more magazines. I have Mother EArth News, Harrowsmith and Organic Gardening magazines dating back to the 70's along with an extensive book collection. Moving them twice in 3 years wasn't fun. And I no longer have a space big enough since we downsized to display them. So I'm having a vendor's table at an upcoming gardening event to get rid of the majority of the magazines. Sad to see them go, but hopefully someone else will learn from them.
I've always managed to keep my collection of crafting magazines to a small pile (knitting mostly), but yes, the yarn does have a way of multiplying ;D

I did donate my yarn collection to a senior knitting crochet group of ladies who craft stuff for the less fortunate. I can no longer crochet due to eye problems with the yarn lint or micro fibers --what ever! ya think mebbe we gots a problem with HOARDING! LOL

MarieLouise, Sorry to hear that you can't use yarn anymore due to health reasons. But your Donation will help many folks and that's Wonderful!
Hoarding? Hmmmmm, I think that was one of the words my Son used when he helped us move...

Blue , thanks, I wasn't all that good at chochet anyhow. LOL But yep the yarn was used for baby blankets for a neonatal unit at a area hospital. So it alll worked out good! Ya notice I didn't mention my stash of fabric!
After seeing inside a local house that would make those on tv hoarding look empty--- I might just start getting rid of more .

Wow I just found this lol I know about saving stuff!! My problem is I HATE to see stuff go to the landfill So I try and think of way to use them.... you know like crocheting plastic bags... I have so many plastic bags now I am taking all my white ones to the re~cycle center... I do have a lot of magazines but I try and keep them in a brown paper bag. When it is full I go thru and get rid of some I cannot believe hubbs tried to give one of my fav. mother earth news mag away.. it was all about tomatoes...I saved it tho I was givin bags and bags of yarn ... some from my mom when she passed some from Daves mom when she passed... My daughter has been making lil crochet veggies and putting cat nip in them and giving them to a shelter she donates time to.... So I gave her all my yarn ..... I thought it was a great cause ...

Anyplace that you can donate your yarn to help those in need is a great idea. There are groups that iknit hats and mittens for Preemies in the hospital, Prayer Shawls for Senior's, the mats for the Homeless and Dogs and CAts at Shelters hoping for their Forever Homes.
It's wonderful to find people who donate what they can to these organizations and beyond.

BLR - aren't electronic files so much neater and space saving LOL And, hubby doesn't need to know that you have the last 20 years of 5 different magazines (pattern mags in my case) saved to your hard drive ;D
But, hey, he won't turn loose of a Popular Science and we have them going back to the early 80s on the shelves in the basement LOL

Annclaire, I don't usually save the patterns online, just bookmark them. If I get around to trying them, then I print them out.

It's Beautiful! You are so talented. Did you see the cowl I posted on your FB page? I started knitting it last night during the Grammys. I looked it at when the show was over and I thought, that's not going to fit over my head?? I forgot to double check the Conversion chart from U.S needle sized to Metric sizes. I was using a 5mm needle instead of an 8 mm needle...or a size 8 American instead of an 11. I DUH. I'll try again later after I find where I put my Brain

She's amazing, isn't she? I took Crochet classes for 18 weeks. All I managed to do was crochet a scarf and then develop Tendonitis. No more crochet for me for a while. Knitting baby stuff though for the upcoming Munchkin.

I am nearly finished knitting my ninth sweater since October. I got the pattern off an Icelandic yarn site. It is a simple colorwork with horses. I will see if I can get a picture when it is done. I don't have a lot of luck with pictures, but I can probably con somebody else into it.
If anybody cares, I always tvaandsticken my colorwork. I hate having loose strands on the backside of knitted things. Plus somewhere in the back of my head morpharmor is waiting to whack me across the knuckles with a nostepinne for "knitting like a lazy englishwoman".
Tvaandstickening is knitting with two strands and twisting them on the purl side of the work. It makes wonderfully warm knits. In addition to colorwork I almost always use it for things like socks and mittens. A nostepinne is just a tapered stick you use to hand wind center pull balls of yarn. If you are going to tvaandsticken in a single color you can knit from both ends of the ball if it is center pull.
