Okay-I read about someone who has sheep and wool making tennis ball sized, felted wool balls that she used in her dryer. The balls bouncing around keep the clothes soft and she thought that something in the wool (possibly the lanolin) kept her clothes static free.. I post on too many darn forums I guess cuz I can not find that post.. was going to talk her into making me a set and see if I could barter some of them heirloom seed collection for it. BUT I CAN NOT FIND IT! So if anyone one here has short wool that won't spin well maybe we can do some talking/trading.(I was sure that that was what she used for it) and if anyone here has been to that forum and saw that post.. Please me know where it is.. I feel like I am losing my mind. Thanks in advance.

I have but it has been probably a year or two. Same with homegrown goodness. ..maybe I'll look for cheap off colored or stained wool yarn and make my own.. a couple of the craft stores here have big bins with off color or stained yarn..

I had a thought about it tho.. I may try to find a wool sweater at the thrift store that isn't felted already(many are due to someone washing them wrong) and just take the sweater and unravel it and use that to make the balls... I was tempted to stop by a neighbor's house and ask what they do with the wool they clip off their sheep.. ya never know what I may end up with.

Em, yarn and sweaters will not have the lanolin. You need wool directly from the sheep.
