Archery in Rocktober, Gun in November. I think that's right. I know gun season starts in Nov. Boom Boom, out go the lights! I used to be the great white hunter in my youth, now I mostly watch them. I sat out on my patio at work and watch the squirrels chase each other! They are fun to watch!

Bow season is in October here. It's still to hot for my taste then. It's probably been 15 plus years since I've gone. The public land is too crowded with hungover fools around here. I was hog hunting one of the last times I went. I was in full camo(with a bow) and using a hog call. I heard a truck door slam and here comes a guy with a 12 guage hunting me. Since the muzzle was pointed in my direction., I froze till he gave up. There wasn't supposed to be a vehicle on Management land, the nearest road was over a half mile away, the only ammunition legal for shotguns in deer archery/squirrel season was birdshot, and I imagine it was loaded with buckshot.

I've got a couple of fawns feeding in my flower gardens right now. Guess I will have to wait a while before they are ready to eat....

Ours starts November 1st and I can't wait for the shooters! Never thought I'd say that as I've always admired Bambi but Bambi is a destructive, big ole' rat thang as far as I'm concerned now.
Instead of the Posted sign, I'm going to post a sign that says, Hunters Welcome.... Well, maybe not, but I feel like it.

If I had acerage I think I might put up a notice of "hunting by prior agreement only".
IMO it may get you hunters you feel comfortable with, and warn off others. Them 'others' gotta be pretty numb to hunt where others also may be hunting...

Dead fall works well here in the city limits. HOpe the deer's scream doesn't wake the neighbors! Mouth is watering for a venison roast cooked over an open fire surrounded by roasted fall vegetables....pumpkin, squash, onions garlic.....
Come on, find that pile of corn.....
Oh well, guess I'll just be eating tree rats tonight. squirrels are quite plentiful this year

But isn't that why they make hunting later in the season? Because Bambi can handle it??

Well, came very close to having Bambi and two other siblings this morning. Deer are quite the city dwellers. At 230 am, coming home from work, stoping to turn into the neighborhood, what do my wondering eyes should appear.... But three young yearlings walk unconcerned accross the street in front of the car. Foot should have slipped off the brake.....
new car and meat for the freezer....
