this house has roses. I've dug 3 stumps out and thrown them away since we moved in. Be careful of the thorns. And use banana peels around the base or plant Rue to keep the aphids away. That's all I know. Oh yeah and some are pretty and then their petals fall off.

We can grow roses here in the desert, some info here: www.roses4az-mevrs.orgIt is truly amazing the number of different varieties that are grown here. I volunteer at the Mesa Community College demonstration and test garden helping to prune and deadhead the over 9,000 roses growing there, it's a wonderful experience being out there among the wonderful array of colors and scents that are represented. Got to watch out for them thorns though!

I originally thought I would learn about roses and keep the ones here, however, they are for the most part, dying off. I have no idea how long they have been here? Withthe exception of two climbers in the back yard, the others are hybrid teas with pretty colours but no scent for using in potpourri. So as they go, I am replacing them with herbs and edibles.

do roses come true from cuttings if they are hybrids blue? or they revert back to parents?

Cutting should be true to the parent of hybrids, that's why they don't allow the public to prune the roses in the "test garden" where I volunteer. They don't want us getting our hands on new offerings before the growers release them.

The only rose I bother to grow is a white rugosa. I collected seed of it many years ago outside of Providenctown MASS.
It repeats, has some scent and I'm not shure anything less than a very long drouth can kill it.
One seedling went in the display bed out front this fall. I'll see if it wakes up next spring...
