Arrrgghh; nightmares. I was entangled in this huge spider web, and could not manage to free my hands to get loose. Hubby was in the next room; I could see him, but could not manage anything above a whisper to call for help. Meanwhile, hubby had this dream that he was organizing a room that was a mess; and was frustrated with the mess. He likes things super-neat; maybe that's why he didn't see me struggling in that huge web. ;D

I have had several dreams that prompted me to do something about them. One, there was no turning it aside, and that one I don't talk about to this day.
Another one was while the ex and I were seperated during our divorce. I kept having a dream about his best friend, so much so that I called the ex and told him about it. He knew about my dreams at this time, so he called his buddy and told him about my dream and how they do come true. While my dream didn't have any specifics, just that the buddy was going to shoot someone.
Years later, we found out from the buddy that while he was out on his reserves weekend, his wife was having an affair. He was suspicious about it, and had set up a fake weekend manuever, and went home and caught them in his bed. He told us (waited years so he could tell both of us together LOL) that if the ex hadn't called and told him about my dream, he would have shot both of them. He had already snuck his .45 out of the house and had it in his vehicle, but the phone call made him really think about what he was doing. So, he called a lawyer and had him hold the .45 and draw up divorce papers, then went and caught them.
I also "dreamed" before Waco, the OKC bombing, and 9/11. In fact, after dreaming about "a great tragedy" I sent emails to several nationally known psychics ... and this was the summer before ... telling them there was going to be a tragedy in "the east" late next summer. I never heard back from them and I didn't know who else to contact.
I am also in the middle of a dream sequence now that I don't know if it is something personal to me yet or not. Thankfully, not all my 'dreams' are about tragedies, but all are a warning of some sort or another.
I have also had waking flashes of 'knowledge' and have no explanation of how I suddenly know ... the last time was for an elderly friend (still working, still active) in which I suddenly knew he was going to pass soon. Sadly, I have the same 'knowledge' about another friend and have prepared the burial gifts as he is native american.

annclaire, that is fascinating. But it must be a bit unsettling to know that you have this insight if you can't do something about whatever is to take place. otoh, you saved lives by telling your ex about the dream about his friend.
I do think that dreams can point out things, and/or direct us in our lives, too. I had recurring dreams for some time, I think because I felt I wasn't able to get where I wanted to be, in my life. Those made me look inward and figure out what I could do to change things, which was good.
At times, I've been with some people, and had 'feelings' about them, that somethiing wasn't right, or they were very unhappy. Those feelings usually turned out to be correct, tho I am not psychic. Maybe just sensitive to people's emotions, or something.
Would be interested in hearing more about your dreams, etc. I do believe we can tune in to so many things that we just are not consciously aware of.

I made my peace with it after the OKC bombing ... some of them just aren't for me to change, but for me to pray for the victims.
The one's I can change, I do say something, but if someone chooses not to make changes of their own, there is still nothing more I can do but pray.
Yes, I have my moments of sadness and tears about some things that happened decades ago, but that is when I redouble my prayers.
And I don't necessarily tell others about this -- in fact, this forum is the first time I have spoken about this publicly -- but I am led to say or do things that have helped others to avoid or change the outcome of something.
What is most sad for me is when someone will not make a simple change and then they have to suffer the consequences.
Of course, lately, we have pretty much been home-bodies and our circle of friends is quite small, so things have slowed down for the most part.

It sounds like you've found a good way to deal with this, and if you've warned people, that's really all you can do. You've done your part, and the choice is up to them.
I had a friend who was psychic, and she tried to block it, because she felt so helpless knowing some things and not being able to do anything. We attended a birthday party for a mutual friend once, and she 'knew' that the lady would not have another birthday. That came true some months later.
I don't think I would handle that very well, knowing something like that. However, she did wake up one night after dreaming that there was a fire in her parents barn on the farm. She called them in the middle of the night, and because of that, they managed to save the barn and animals. So, maybe times like that could help make it worthwhile, too.

No, it is a gift. However, it can be a tough ride at times.
I was lucky, even though the family didn't believe when I was growing up, I knew what was true and determined at an early age that whatever it brought in the future, I would do my best to do what I could, when I could, and trust that God gave me this for a reason. It was my job to try and pass it on in a way that other's could "hear" and act on ... I am not always successful in that part of it, but I try.
The one thing that gave me incentive was hearing about when my grandmother's brother Skinny died during WWII ... my great grandmother sat up in bed from a deep sleep and said, "Oh, Skinny! Son, I love you." and then turned to my great grandfather and told him to start making arrangements for the funeral. 3 days later, they got the telegram and his funeral was within the week.
By the time I heard this story, I had several run-ins with family about my dreams and had been told I was crazy, I was lying, I didn't know what I was talking about, etc. Hearing great grandmother tell the story was what I needed to "get my bearings" on how to handle things with parents. Me and mom had just had one of our big fights over a dream and I think my grandfather and great grandmother conspired for me to hear that story. Mom was NOT going up against great grandmother ;D
Ah, well, that was then, this is now ... and I have complete support of the old man and my daughter. In fact, because I believed, when he and I got married, we talked a lot about times in our lives when dreams had influenced us, and he admitted to a couple of times in his life where they were very influential, but he questioned whether it was just his imagination or not. He finally had someone to talk to about it and began listening to his flashes of intuition and that most definitely saved his life on his way to work one day.
Together, he and I also have times when we can tune in to animals around us, too. That is pretty cool ... he seems to know what they are thinking, I seem to get feelings ... and we think that might be why big birds show us such attention ;D

Darstcreek, can you tell us more?? I find dreams fascinating...some are just hilarious.
Last night I was climbing; these metal stairs like a carnival ride thing; never got to the top.
In another, someone was in the room, and try as I might, I couldn't wake my self up or reach over to turn on the lamp (because I knew the light would wake me up). Good thing dh knows to wake me if I seem in peril. ;D ;D

Had several difficult nights this week with dreams. In one I was being choked. So I looked the meaning up and here's what a possible explanation was: Dreaming someone is choking you indicates that you are suppressing your emotions. It suggests that you have problems expressing anger, fear or love. Consider the phrase "being all choked up". Alternatively, you may feel that you are being prevented or restricted from freely expressing yourself. The second night I was being beaten up in my dream. Apparently, this could mean that I feel pushed to my limits. I wish I would have a dream about being in a Cabana. That signifies that I am being overwhelmed by a problem and need some downtime, so plan a vacation

I just received notice today that my childhood friend lost her mother Tuesday. I was afraid that was going to happen as the dream came Saturday night and I called her on Sunday. She said her mother had taken a turn for the worse and was back in the hospital from the nursing home. I probably won't make it to the funeral Monday, and I am so sad about that ... I spent just about as much time in this lady's home as I did in my own after school.

You're spending too much time and effort on growing trees. Your subconscious is crying out for variety in your diet. You smelled the mortadella, cucumber, tomato and mayo on whole wheat sandwich that I had for lunch.
