Does reorganizing closets count as a project? Ok to explain--- our house is well over 150 years old-- was very short on closet space and storage but lovely huge rooms. anyhoooo one of the closets we built way back when we first bought really needs some redoing. Only need closet poles set closer together for shirts and pants--long itiems can go into another closet with regular heigth poles . and I want to repaint the back bedroom. then the kitchen needs something done with that space under the sinks!!!!

Well, the kitchen is finally painted a lovely shade of orange. Youngest daughter's room is an interesting shade of purple. Oldest daughter's room, as of yesterday, is red on 3 sides and black chalkboard on one side. It looks kinda cool actually.
So, in the coming year, we're going to get both bathrooms painted, the living room painted and new carpet, and build a sun room on the back side of the master bedroom. Yay!!

love the painting! I never seem to get around to that.
Project for 2012... besides the garden and all my regular stuff??
I'd love to learn to make lotion... but not sure I'll get to it.
I want to make my first full size quilt with my girls and I have a LOT of sewing and quilting to do for my new granddaughter due in April.

I need to finish gathering the tiles to retile my kitchen counters and build the shelf unit I want over the microwave stand ... it will actually sit on the microwave stand and give me some open shelves for display.
I also have to finish stripping the old (1920s) linoleum from one bathroom and tile that floor ... going with a white octagonal tile with an inset boarder of navy blue.
The second bath needs the tub and old shower stall taken out and a new one put in that doesn't have the tub sides we have to step over now - ugggg. Then, the sink vanity needs replaced and a tile floor installed there.
It is time to reroof the house too, so that will probably have to be hired out.
I also need to build more rabbit cages too ;D

One closet looks really nice and I actually sent some clothing down to the Christian Life Center---- things I know I will never wear or didn't like the way it fit so chunked it into a box and sent it away. Now anyone got any ideas what to do with sheets---- got so many that don't fit these big mattresses or are so thin from washing and wear -- big ole pile of em. hate to toss but can't think of anything to do with them. Well I did tear off a strip for a bandage for my hand--to keep it clean right now and hold the aloavera in place til the burn heals . Only other thing is strips to tie up mater plants in the garden --when we plant. Ideas anyone? ?

I have a castle bunk bed to build and paint, paint the whole house inside and out, install the last of the cork flooring, and set up a lampworking studio on the back patio (finally) I hope to be melting glass in a month.

We've moved so much, I've just gotten to where I go through it often; so don't accumulate anymore like I used to. What I remember about George Carlin and 'stuff' is, him saying when his folks sent him to his room, he didn't mind, cuz "Hey, that's where all my stuff is!!!" ;D He had quite the sense of humor!!

Wouldn't sheets make good window washing/drying rags, too?? Seems like they shouldn't have the lint that some fabric does.

We're planning to install new flooring in the kitchen/dining/family room soon, just can't decide what to get. Right now the kitchen is vinyl tile, the dining/family room is carpet which I hate so we're considering laminate, ceramic tile or just a good vinyl sheet flooring. Knowing we're going to have to spend what is probably the rest of our lives looking at it is pretty intimidating.
Also planning on painting the bedrooms, new window coverings and some closet door repairs. Just bought a new faucet for the kitchen that is still in the box and door molding to install around a new door, a neverending story it seems.
We were looking at having to have a new roof and ac but I guess we got "lucky" last year as the severe hailstorm that blew through here did enough damage to both that the ins. covered that considerable expense so we dodged a bullet there anyway.

Paint the kitchen (hopefully). Paint the lattice fence. Make a gate for the arbor-currently gate is a piece of lattice tied to both sides-clean out the shed! (yeah, right) cut the blackberry bushes out of the daylillies and finally....have an adult beverage or two when it's done!

Nothing big here, but gotta thin out the hostas, daylilies and irises, which should've been done last year. Then find someone to give 'em to, or else toss 'em.
Figure out what else to plant in the garden; like to have something different every year.

Just came in from working in the flwbeds all day! I am tired, but speaking of thinning I also need to thin the irises, jonquils, amarylises & daylillies , one more bed tomorrow to work up then I can start on thinning and moving . Have to just blow off some blooms for this year, last year the heat and drought did a number on everything. I have never seen my plants looking so ragged. Jim has been trimming off dead and damaged branches on the trees and crepe myrtles, should have already been done but weather just didn't corperate .
wheres my maid? I need a maid to come and clean house and cook while I do the outside!

Bella, Just put them on Freecycle or Craigslist, they'll be gone before the day is over! That's what I will likely do if the neighbors don't want them. I hate to see any plants go to waste even if i'ts just daylilies.

I have been removing the wallpaper in my kitchen that has been there for many years-what a JOB! Some places it peels off real easy, and in others-I swear they put it on with super glue! No matter what I've tried, I can't get it off, and think I'm going to have to resort to sanding it off! Whew! Thought I could do this in a couple of days-WRONG!

OHHH Cat I feel for ya!!!! If ya want it to come off it don't --lol---speaking from experience! Whats even worse is the old paper they glued on top of tobacco cloth with lots of little nails holding the cloth to da wall then someone nailed el cheapo paneling on top of that ! AAAhhhh the mess that was under all that was unbelievable . I hated that paneling, thought it be a quick job to remove and paint the walls----nooooo--- and once started taking it down found the other mess, took a few days to get it all cleaned ! No wonder I couldn't keep my house dusted!!
Sometimes on wall paper --if ya scar up the paper then soak it real good it helps remove it. some wall paper was coated for easy cleaning so ya gotta get the moisture in and under the paper to loosen the paste.
