Is this one of those perrenial yams? Yes, perennial plant. When you take out the major root from underground and then leave the stem and root(over ground remove), next spring grow again. if not use major big root , they are die (only major root)next year----actually fade.Not remove major root, more healthy grow. Woo

Compare with potato or sweet yam, the price is more than 5 times expensive , and the taste is much better(my opinion), and the Asians think yam is same as ginseng,so expensive and rare. African yam is totally different chinese yam.---not my opinion. Woo

woo, Looks great. I've been growing that for years as a house plant. It was a gift to me. I did not know what it was. But I will cook some up this spring!

Most is two different kind yam---short and round, long(over 1 foot). Steam and eat . Remember take out tubers and keep them.---they will grow again and you can harvest fall again every year. very expensive. Woo
