Best bet is to leave one fruit per vine. Also, what are you feeding the plant and how often? Watering must be done regularly as well. Big pumpkins need big water.

Well this morning Dad said to ripup the Brazilian Mejada cuz it is running everywhere and only has one squish on. He's kinda impatient. Mystery moschata has one on the size of a football. Tahitian Melon squash are still the allstars. Thai Golden Round melons are loading up, many the size of large cantalopes and blooms everywhere. Royal Golden watermelons are less productive but there are at least 4 on. Muncher cucumbers are doing well. Picked a gallon of blueberries allready.

Looking Great. Thanks for sharing the pics.
Sorry to hear you're having losses from pill bugs too. I started more plants this morning. And I did the pill bug/snail/slug/earwig Stomp. We've had rain on and off since Thursday now. It's making everything green and it's also bringing all the little slimy predators to the surface. I go out and move containers on the sidewalk by the garden and dance around. I'll have punkins yet!

Charles, I had the worst time in 2010 with squirrels stealing small pumpkins. They figured since they were the size of an acorn or a walnut that's what they must be. So they would pick them and then bury them!
That year, I only got one pumpkin for me. It was the size of a walnut, and it was ripe. It was an Amish Pie and I cured it and kept it in my front porch for a year. When I opened it up, it had one seed, but alas, that one seed wasn't fertile. The squirrels joke was on me, lol

Blasted tree rats! DH saw an actual rat in our yard and we were talking about setting out traps. He mentioned that we might catch squirrels by mistake. I told him that was a good thing!

Trying to decide between butternut and musquee de provence this fall. They're both good, but don't have much time to take care of the plants. Our youngest son's up to 23 pounds though, a good pumpkin weight.

Planting now for this fall? Musquee's date to maturity is 120 days and butternut's is only about 90. I guess the difference would matter if you are in north Texas.
