I believe in reincarnation and Karma, I believe if you have the understanding you can climb the evolutionary ladder of the soul or if you turn to darkness you descend that ladder. I also believe in God and Jesus. I know others may not agree with me, but that's OK, I don't claim to have all the answers or even most of them. I believe that God looks into you heart to see who you really are.

I think this thread could end up being a bit touchy, but I also think we have a pretty understanding group here.

I agree with gn, though "Reincarnation" is what brought me in. I suppose it'd be great if everyone could put "Ultimate Being" in place of their (exactly that) choice label. I don't believe in Death so it would be hard for me to ponder in that window, the Soul IS the life, the being, the beginning and end is all the vessels and carriers in which it uses. hmmm I don't know if I'm the only one who thinks that way.

I think it would be fun if we all shared what animal we would want to come back as if that was how it works. (I don't actually believe we ever come back as anything but human, but it could still be a fun way to get to know each other).
I would love to come back as a mountain goat. I love the mountains and it would be fun to run and frolic on them.

Sorry, I shouldn't have said anything on my beliefs! Richard, you have every right to state what you believe, I ain't knocking what you believe, I believe mostly the same as you, I just see things a little different is all. I have a little saying that I like...Celebrate the things we share in common and try to understand the things we don't. it's all cool.

Okay now I'm conflicted because I went to the zoo yesterday and was reminded about how much I lOVE hippos! They don't have to worry about their weight, people fear them, and they get to hang out in the water all day. How cool is that?

To me, it's a matter of physics; matter is neither created nor destroyed, it just changes form.
I believe that our own human soul is a unique expression of God (or whatever term you use for the Whole, if any) and is part of God and it never ceases to exist.
I don't belive that time is linear and I don't believe that the physcial, conscious realm of "now" is our only form of existence. I believe that our soul energy can exist in lots of different ways that aren't time or space bound. And "we" can be in many existences at once.
Ever had Deja Vu? Ever had a memory bleed through? Ever met a complet stranger and "recognized" them immediately, felt connected to them?
I'm of the "earth is a wonderful existence and we're here to learn" school. We learn, we evolve, we transcend, we change form, we return. Not as cats or dogs, but as people, again, to dance the spiral dance of "around and up and up"....

'i'd come back as a butterfly. because nobody ever suspects the butterfly.' -bart simpson
hee hee. no, but i think id like to come back as a tiger. thatd be awesome.
i dont really understand the concept of reincarnation totally, but i have over the past year studied a lot of religious thought out there and found it interesting that so many religions have this parallel of a 're-birth' of some kind, that i think somehow some form of the idea has to be either totally true or all of them together somehow come together to make the true concept. where Christ and the prophets of the bible talk about a spiritual rebirth, or a change of heart as some say, and lord Krishna taught about literally taking on a new vessel with each successive life until one reaches brahman status, i think there are a lot of parallels to see, and truth lies somewhere in between the lines.

I don't belive that time is linear It sure ain't but we in the west mostly indulge in purely linear thinking, e.g., if "B" happens shortly after "A", then, hey "A" must have caused B. Lots of examples in the world of health and medicine, in particular. Existence is not wonderful for everyone. People who think that there's this Beautiful Grand Plan going on will be kicked in the arse by the Almighty in order to have their beliefs tested and shredded, if need be. ;D

Agreed, time is not linear. There are more than three dimensions. There are more than four directions. The urge to compartmentalize, shortens the human point of view--much is overlooked.
