Hmmm....do you trim off the branches that are crossing, as you do on some shrubs??
I also remember reading somewhere that for fruit trees or shrubs, you want to 'open up the middle' to the sunlight.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong here.......

Cherry on its own feet can get tallish. I might cut it at "A", others would cut it at "B".
If you know fer sure its on dwarfing rootstock the argument gets stronger for "B".
Any tree taller than a fire hydrant is too tall fer me...
