what is going on with wally ? wheres the 20 cent seed packs ? all i'm seein, is 2 buck and 1 buck displays. i need 20 cent packs for decoy "crops". i refuse to be anything but redneck . is wally moving down in the world and think their high falutin' ? it's really gonna make me mad to drive 75 miles to get 4 or 5 packs of 20 cent lettuce instead of blowing 5 bucks on expensive seed.

I noticed they didn't have any cheap seed packets out about a week ago. They did add (I think it was) Seeds of Change seeds, but just didn't see anything that I needed.
My other outlets for cheap seeds, I haven't looked at yet. Sutherland's (I think it is regional around here) and Family Dollar/Dollar General type stores. They usually have 4 or 5 packets for a dollar seeds also.
Cape, if you don't have another source of cheap seeds nearby, then it will save you the time of the 75 mile trip to buy the $1 and $2 packets. The gas to get to the cheap seeds would offset the savings anyway.

Wally Werld, er my Wally Werld does now have 20ยข per pack seeds. Trudi Davidof (wintersown.org) is still giving away seeds for a SASE...

I agree with TX about the fuel to go shopping that far from home. Not worth the trip. Put an order in with Baker Creek. Isn't their shipping in the U.S. only $3.00?
And Coppice's idea of asking Wintersown for some seeds for the cost of an SASE can't be beat!

i was just kiddin about running 75 miles 1 way just to save a buck. at that i may have enough, just basically wasting those as deer feed. but i am shocked that wally don't have those seeds out. i think it's because thats the only ones that sell up here. not much of a margin. was curious if that was occuring in other locals. i gave away most of my seeds and still have too many. wintersown is a great source and usually i get some from her . past 3 years i've been sending her a bunch !

I've known people who would drive that far to "save" 10cents (or so they think). Glad to hear that you aren't really one of those, Cape!
Congrats on being a Gardener who shares their bounty with Trudi!

Our W. Mart had the $.20 seeds in January and have been replaced with the Seeds of Change organic seeds. They also had Burpee seeds around the corner. Didn't check out the price or number of seeds in each packet as I have too many seeds already, though I WAS looking for pole beans - none there.

Congrats on being a Gardener who shares their bounty with Trudi! bluelace, i know what ya mean. too many times i've been with folks who think nothing of driving xtown to get gas 2 cents cheaper, and spend 30 minutes in traffic to do it . gotta admit though,i'll drive as far as 155 miles one way just to dine. (thats my record ) that was to nolan ryans restaurant. he makes good catfish and quail ! have had friends who hop planes to go check out a "diner", but i think thats a bit much. i have no problems hopping a flight to do a 2 or 3 day weekend to see a bird, sightsee, hunt or fish though. used to make gamblin runs like that. cape

Alright, there you go. Got your seeds. It's funny how people get so accustomed to deals in one place that when they are gone, it's an inconvenience and downright annoying to have to look elsewhere. There was a small, independent $ store in a nearby town when we were farming. They had some great cheap seeds, many heirloom varieties from a seed company in NYS. Haven't found anyplace similar here.
