We all list what we are going to grow, and then when the planting time hits for all sorts of reasons, all bets are off. Shortage of space (I can amaze my wife with the way I can cram objects into closets, car trunks, etc. but this skill fails me when I plant in the garden. Lol.), seedling mortality, failure to germinate, etc. changes plans.
Sooo, what actually made it into the garden? I know many haven't planted yet, but when you do, how bout letting us know what you got?
I just got through planting and charting and recording what I've got:
Rosella Purple Dwarf Black Sea Man Fireball Brad's Black Heart Big Cheef F7 Orange Minsk Sungold F1 Tigrovy Siberia Stump of the World Cowlick Brandywine Black From Tula Tarasenko-6 Vorlon Indian Stripe Costoluto Genovese Sweet Beverley Black Cherry Thessaloniki JD's Special C-Tex Marianna's Peace Spudakee Pineapple Omar's Lebanese Berkley Tie-Dye
I ended up with a total of 101 plants this year. I have one other variety that is in the process of germinating which is Early Wonder. Primarily I am growing that to try to save some seeds to give it a better shot next year.

Matt's Wild Cherry Anna Aasa Cherry Green Grape Cherry Gold Nugget Cherry Tigerella Costoluto Genovese Rutgers Bonny Best Emerald Evergreen
I was planning on some Delicious as well, but frankly the bigger the tomato, the less evenly they ripen for me. Tried Evergreen years ago, and wanted to try it again. Planting more of the Rutgers and Bonny Best than anything, the others are more for snacking so just a few of each. Planning on introducing the gran'baby to the joy of sun ripened cherry tomatoes straight off the vine and right into the mouth.
I have a main garden area, a flower bed by the house, and a couple nooks and corners by the shed and shop and fence where I can separate varieties to save seed (cram in more plants!)

I planted my tomato seeds yesterday. After years of planting hundreds of tomatoes each year, some years as many as 600-800, but usually about half that many as I age. Last year was the least I ever planted...80 tomato plants. Well, this year's plantings will shock many that know me. I started 16 tomato plants! You have no idea just how difficult this was to decide upon. These are basicly the best of the best over the last ten years or more. Many favorites were left out, but this is what I settled on:
(2 ea.) of: Purple Dog Creek ( my #1 tomato from last year)
Liz Birt ( a brandywine/cherokee purple cross that's superb)
One each:
Cowlick Brandywine-original P.L. which has been my best over most years.
Cowlick Brandywine- rarer R.L. Which is usually a week or so earlier
Brandywine-Glicks a pink brandywine that has surpassed Cowlicks the past few years
Brandywine- Sudduths a pink that most people favor, but has never equalled my favorites
Barlow Jap- a pink slicer that can rival the best Brandywines
Earl's Faux- another great pink in the Brandywine style
Dana's German Johnson A great tasting slicer that produces well, similar to favorite BW's
Tarasenko6 A great red tomato that has been my favorite Red for years now.
Amazon Chocolate The largest of my favorite black tomatoes
Bear Creek A medium sized Brandywine/Cherokee Purple cross, that constantly challenges Amazon Chocolate and Dana's Dusky Rose for the #1 position in blacks.
Dana's Dusky Rose The third challenger in the Black tomato competition. also medium sized.
Delicious- This is the worlds record holder for largest tomato...7 3/4 lbs, nuff said.
Wishing everyone a great season ahead. Enjoy! Camo

Nothing in the ground here yet but expect to start dropping them in next weekend. A month earlier than normal. I have planted starting April 10th several years ago but haven't in 7-8 years. Will have back up in case Father Frost/Freeze hits. They will have protection also. Either WOW's or plastic buckets with the bottoms cut out. But with ground temps from the low 60's to the low 70's depending on the time of day I read it I feel it is time. And also these plants have gone bonkers. And it is either plant some of them or pot them up into larger pots. We hit 90 yesterday. Very warm for this time of year here. I'm hoping I can get some fruit set and some maters before the intense heat sets in. Hopefully this summer won't be as hot as last summer. I will update my list as I plant. There will be more hybrids this year than normal. After several very difficult years and 4 years of drought mixing things up some. And hopefully at least a few grafted plants. Jay

My list this year: Sweet Beverly (picked first ones on April 1, sweet and delicious!) Mtg. lifter Native son, coloring up nicely now San Marzano paste, plants are 5 ft. tall and loaded! Kosmonaut Volkov, Bloody Butcher Break O' Day Thessaloniki Sioux Polish Dwarf Rebel Yell Moosolini And Early Girl just to compare to the others for earliness and production. So far most of what I planted are looking to eleminate early girl which is the standard recommended for our extreme heat. Most of these were planted in the ground last Nov.
