Well no longer , I am telling you what!!! I just found the greatest remedy... Ok my dog may get one or two fleas ... I bathe him and have to search extensively for a flea , I usually know he has one because of his itching .... Well I tried the drops on his back (used to work) I tried the pills (Used to work) I tried doing both , that works but dang it is expensive and I am positive it is NOT good for him (Wasn't vet approved) he used to get shots also but ... OMG it is a nightmare to get this poor dog to quit itching .Tried the vinegar, tried the brewers yeast, fish oil garlic tried it all .... Well hubbs was talking to his buddy at work and he suggested after you give your dog a bath rinse him thoroughly with 50/50 water and listerine ... OMG I just did it... This is the first time he has gotten a bath and when he was done didn't start itching right away...He is not only super soft but he is not itching ... It will help heal the lil sore spots he has and he smells nice and fresh Wow!!!! I just thought I's share that!! It is good when they roll in something stinky also ... I just want to say Wow!!!! I'm just sayin!!

Good to know, Wendy. Our daughter's dog is always scratching, and he gets the treatments from the vet, but it isn't working so well. Will have to try that on him.

all the various treatments will work for awhile then it seems that fleas adapt to what ever it has that gets rid of the fleas. also you always have to wash and treat their bedding and yard area l if fleas or ticks are real bad at the same time you treat the pet. I had not heard of the listerine treatment but paln on keeping it in mind! thanks for shareing that way!!!

I cannot believe I said By dog and not my dog lololol also avoid getting it in their eyes.. I am going totell my two daughters their dogs are allergic to grass and always licking their feet.. it is good for that also .. also good for when they roll in something stinky!!

I've read several different recipes using mouthwash as an ingredient in dog grooming. Some say 1/2 mouthwash, 1/2 apple cider vinegar, others just use a capful. Here's one from a dog breeder and exhibitor. She includes a couple of recipes for bathing and as a yard spray. Apparently it's the Thymol in the mouthwash that repels the fleas. dogsdollarssense.blogspot.ca/2012/02/save-money-using-listerine-as-flea.html

Blue I did read something about it repels ticks , you can spray your yard, some put some kind of oil in it also but my dog is long haired I cannot add oil to anything .. But spraying the yard I heard it attracts ants .. I don't know .. But I have too big of a yard to spray to far out maby spray right around the house ... Now he has itched a few times since his bath , but I also read that it takes a few days to help the hot spots .. They say if you keep a spray bottle handy with the mix it really helps with hotspots and such ....

You're not going to clear up hot spots with just one bath, but hopefully this treatment will have helped a lot!

My little dog has bad allergies, too. I have to at least rinse him every day to get the "whatever" off him. I try not to bathe with soap too often, and when his itching gets real bad, I put a splash of Dr. Tichenor's in the water. Listerine has got to work the same way! It helps, put poor Peanut is so allergy ridden, he never completely stops scratching. He takes allergy pills, too.

to wet harley down every day or every other day is hard because he is long haired ... So he has to be blown dry ... it might be worth it tho just to make sure he gets his treatment ..... I also heard Zink will help, a friend gives 80 mgs for a 80 lb dog .. Suggested 10 mgs for harley to start out ... I don't know, I am about at my wits end with this ... Why are soooo many people having soooo many problems with dogs itching and allergies and fleas and stuff? Used to we just had a dog and life was good ...... sighhhh

I think it's because of all the additives in their food, the vaccinations, the systemic flea preparations which can cause side effects and even the death of pets.
My neighbours dog has developed a rare immune system disease after being treated for fleas by a veterinarian. Reactions of this type are supposedly few but that doesn't make it any easier on the dog or the distraught owner.

Yea I guess your right Blue .... I don't know... I do assume if you have any animals you may want to treat before anything goes bad now because in a few months those lil bugs are going to go rampid.. You know this is going to be a bad summer for ticks and fleas.. Try and get ahold of anything now!! Before it gets to hot !!!
