Actually both a breeder and a vet recommended that I feed my dog unsalted green beans when she got kind of pudgy. Other than that she would love to eat allmost anything that I eat. Never give them raisens, grapes, chocolate andany large amount of onion.

I have a friend who feeds her dogs a raw diet. (It's expensive to do, Yes, and there is a science to it). One time, she heard an awful ruckus at the table. Two of her pups were standing on the table, fighting over raw swiss chard!

Yes, my dogs eat a lot of things from the garden. They will fight me for fresh broccoli! The first time I walked in the house with a head from the garden, the senior dog jumped up, grabbed it and fled outside. By the time I found him, both dogs had devoured have the head. Dogs are funny and picky. One likes arugula, the other prefers spinach. One eats apples, the other eats pumpkin. I do cook a lot of things that can be eaten by me or the dogs. They very rarely eat real dog food.

I've seen dogs that pick tomatos and dogs that pick blueberries. Mine ate cooked winter squash and apple casserole tonight.

My little daschund loves raw green beans, carrots, cabbage & broccoli. He KNOWS the word broccoli, and will come running when I say it. Pumpkin & sweet potatoes are very good for dogs. He likes popcorn, too. He also eats my baby zinnias (which I read supposedly has a 'calming' effect on animals-I should plant more!), and he eats bee balm-to the ground. All of these things are good for them!
