Red person--- a word of warning . Place those persimmons far away from your garden. We have a lovely persimmon tree in the side yard ---its roots have invaded the nearby flwbed--- sends up lots of sucker shoots alll over that flwbed. Also has shoots coming up in a group of my criman lillies nearby. Its a pain keeping the suckers cut down.

American persimmon grows well into dry lands (steppe), which is why it needs those big feet.
Asian cultivars have smaller leaves and shorter internodes, so its much more commonly used as bonsai

curious as to how fast these will grow.lol although i spaced close for dwarfing purposes i'm wondering at the growth rate they will achieve.as mentioned may be more root growth than topside.

I cut all of the saplings outa my flw bed not to long ago and now some are a couple feet tall already. will be cutting them again tomorrow morning.

simmons still kicking. tough little buggers.lol I almost ordered some this year-- believe it none for sale in the DFW area this year. One person told me the persimmons do better further east, but no confirmation of this. Best I can tell it's a great fruit tree that no one grows ? The McKinney nature center supposedly sold some a couple of years ago. I called up there and they said they weren't selling any trees, due to last year's drought the vendors had no stock.

I know peaches and pears, "they" advise against it.

I broke out a jar I had bald cypress propagating in. Time'll tell if they can take the move.
Wisteria camp ground has some wet spots that are well suited to being home for these trees.
