I'm actually looking for fruits (I'll be growing them inside during the year outside during the summer) seeds should grow ok no?
Do seeds (in general) come true? Like from the super market?

Next fall, when I'll have seed to trade, I'll be looking for seeds of the following plants:
Texas Persimmon (Diospyros texana) Farkleberry (Vaccinium arboreum) Wild Plum ~ Prunus spp (mexicana, maritima, etc...) Mayhaw (Crataegus opaca)
Just a 'heads up'... ;D

My prunus and other local prunus did not set fruit this year.
I will have plenty of small fruited crab apple. I've not yet found a local apple-crab tree to pick over. Once crabs seed is ripe (wait for it) I'll start talking up seed exports.
Left to my own device I will send seed not requested off to Robin Marble. She will return seed for a SASE or free of any postage for needy.
Purple cone flower (echinacea) seed got their first collection today. Once dry, left over seed will go to Robin...

Are pears reliable from seed? I've never really heard anyone say one way or the other. The moonglow pears are finally coming in, and of course there are seeds to be had.

If your tight on space I'd go with proven cultivars. Like if there is only room for two trees.
Pear mostly come true from seed, the problem is they are allopaths, and do not play well with others.
Your more likely to end up with a standard sized tree than a grainy half-wild pear only good for canning.

Oh what a difference a year makes Last year was drouthy, the man who collects native (corylus) hazelnut, does not irrigate his orchard. it showed in last years teeny-weeny nuts. This years philberts are much bigger, oh they're small by Georgian (thats in the european balkans, georgian...) but nice an' fat by USain standards.
For swap or SASE. Talk to me soonest please.
Garret I'll gift you with some if you need them & are still talking to me.

I don't do too well on ladders, then again Texas trees are pretty short compared to anywhere else I've been. We got a Fuyu persimmon that said it would grow to 40 feet tall. I'll believe it when I see it!

They makes a picker, looks like a baby peach basket with fingers. It'll let ya' pick an up to 20 foot tall tree. All 'cept the top few fruit, no problem.
Pear buds back well, so pruning a few feet shorter aint rocket surgery.

Sapling-In-Cheif just delivered about a gallon of (ripe but) green skinned crab apples I have started pound them down to retreave seed.
Any body got some orphan with-hazel seed? Robin is hot for some and my one year old hamamalis didn't bloom this year.

C P Your seed arrived!
Some will go on to Robin Marble for her give aways. The remainder will go to Garret who has shared a few words by email with me, so I suppose he's still alive, even if he is mum...
Sorry CP, but if you want me to address you by (only) your handle, you gotta include it in your mail. FWIW USPS will send your mail on, with only your handle as part of the return address.

Counting my olive before they're fully rooted Red! my head is swelled to bursting. I just teased apart from my double bottom terrarium some olea europa (olive) cuttings with roots on.
I dunno if it will be spring or fall of '14 before I ship them on, but they gotta beef up some more before they ship out.

An olive in OH is about as natural as a type-I diabetic in a candy factory...
