The current WTA ranking of the supposedly best tennis players in the world looks like this: #1 - Viktoria Azarenka, Belarus #2 - Maria Sharapova, Russia #3 - Agnieszka Radwanska, Poland #4 - Petra Kvitová, Czech Republic #5 - Samantha Stosur, Australia #6 - Caroline Wozniacki, Denmark #7 - Marion Bartoli, France #8 - Na Li, China #9 - Serena Williams, USA #10 - Vera Zvonareva, Russia
Serena Williams is the only one among the "TOP 10" of the four players who have been dominating lately: The Williams sisters from US and Kim Clijsters and Justine Henin-Ardenne from Belgium. Kim Clijsters is much further down the list at no. 40, and Venus Williams and Justine Henin-Ardenne aren't visible at all. Maybe gathering enough points to place well in the WTA ranking, which requires participating in a lot of WTA tournaments, is only for the youngest players, whereas those around 30 (yes, 30 years is a high age in tennis), who are experienced and "lazy" concentrate on winning or placing high in the four most important tournaments, the Grand Slams: Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon and US Open.

Maria Sharapova rose to #1 position after winning the French Open, completing her set of titles from all four Grand Slams, so now the WTA ranking looks like this: #1 - Maria Sharapova, Russia #2 - Viktoria Azarenka, Belarus #3 - Agnieszka Radwanska, Poland #4 - Petra Kvitová, Czech Republic #5 - Samantha Stosur, Australia #6 - Serena Williams, USA #7 - Caroline Wozniacki, Denmark #8 - Marion Bartoli, France #9 - Angelique Kerber, Germany #10 - Sara Errani, Italy
Serena Williams is still the only one among the "TOP 10" of the four players who have been dominating lately, but she has advanced.

The final of the Grand Slam at Wimbledon tomorrow will be between Agnieszka Radwanska and Serena Williams. Agnieszka Radwanska will be #1 in the WTA rankings if she wins and #2 if she loses. Serena Williams will also rise in the rankings.

Serena Williams won, this is her fourth Wimbledon title, but Agnieszka Radwanska is still young, and she was in her first Grand Slam final.
