Well I watched 3 of my gkids today and my 3 year old grandson was getting off the chair and he kinda slipped and fell, well he fell right on Harley , Harley let out a yelp, I thought because it scared him, but he jumped out of the car and stuff , he wont jump up tho, he always sets on the foot of my lazyboy and he won't jump up there, he is not limping, I got some cheese out and he trotted to where I was (He loves cheese) I think he is just bruised , I feel bad , but I am not taking him to the Vet, they will want to do a Xray and if he can walk and go down steps ...no limping or anything then I am not taking him in.... Am I being mean, or a cheap ol lady?? I guess I will watch him the next couple of days and see .. even if he does have a cracked rib or something they won't do anything anyway ...here I am making excuses lol That means he will sleep on the floor tonight!! Yay!! he is a PITA at night!

He may just be sore and bruised from the childs falling on him . Like you I would watch Harley for a few days first, don't know about there but around here the vet charges sure have gotten high. and no you are not being a meany or el cheapo person just a sensible one!!!
As long as he isn't limping and crying a lot or have a bloody stool watch for that tomorrow when he goes out to do his job.
How does he react to you feeling around his rib cage area ?
LOL on the floor---- awww poor puppy!!! Give him a blankie at least!

Lol it is 77* in this house he he he needs no blankie ... I think he will be ok, I took him out to go potty and he took off running after a cat, I don't know if it was his adrenaline from chasing the cat or not but he hesitantly walked up the steps, he is laying down to eat but, I'll still keep an eye on him, watch his stools and such.. Thanks Marie seems silly to me now to be so worried but he is my baby ... We are not going to call a vet unless absolutely necessary , not stopping him from itching either pffttttt!

Hope Harley is doing better!
If you take him to the vet, they will tell you to keep him quiet for a few days. Don't let him jump up on furniture, chase cats etc. My 10 year schnauzer has ruptured a disc in his back. We now have steps in the house that lead up to "his" couch, chair and of course the bed. The hardest part was teaching him how to climb steps since he has never seen a staircase. He wouldn't even eat chicken or scrambled eggs. I had to feed him with a spoon to get him to eat. The things we do for our puppies.....

Awweeee kay that is sad , I think he will be ok he went up the steps today a lil slower but he did and lastnight he did jump up in our bed , so I think he is fine. keeping him from chasing the cat I have been working on, he doesn't chase our cat anymore but in his eyes all others are fair game. I didn't even know the cat was there. He is quieter and looks at me before he attempts the jump on the chair, I told him no and he jumped... (listens like my kids!) anyhoo I thank you so very much but I think he just got bruised ... He is ok .. Now I feel like I was the baby because I was so worried about him ..........

Don't ever feel that way. Harley is a member of your family! They usually perk up in a day or two from a bruise. Just start teaching him now, no jumping up on furniture.

gcg all I have to do is get a bottle of shampoo out from under the sink and he tries to tip toe away, If all eles fails he will set there and shiver and shake , and all to no avail lol ... He will get a bath any way .. my latest thing is to keep him from chasing the cat, he is ok with our cat, but when he goes to other peoples houses and their cat runs.. Game on!! He is in so much trouble because he tries to get a chase going ... lil stinker!!

Our Oscar and Kitty get along and play and chase each other . Butttttt another dog chase Kitty and Oscar will jump on em. I guess its ok for him to chase HIS cat but not ok for others to chase HIS cat. I feed them both inside at the same time and O will sit and watch Kitty eat before he goes to his bowl. Kitty will eat his food sometimes and he eats hers other times they each eat their own.

Well lets just say this Kay His panties are twisted!! I took him into the craft shop and he is cold, the kids keep running in and out and he keeps going out ! Day one he got taken back home, day two he got left at home till Dave brought him back, again he slips away to pee on every tree and stuff, and so He had to be taken to the front shop, Dave should of left him home! Ding dong dog!!
