I'm having a terrible time with rabbits eating my Asiatic lilies! Last year the rabbits didn't touch them. So far 6 are down. Several of them had buds. I put dog hair around them which lasted until the first rain. Now the bunnies are right back at it. I told the DH this morning it was open season (I felt rather like Elmer Fudd saying so too, but I didn't grow the lilies for the rabbits. I'm growing them for me!).
I was thinking of planting something stinky (chives? Egyptian onions? Lavender?) near them to deter them.
Any helpful advice on how to get rid of those "Wascally Wabbits"?

I have heard Blood meal is supposed to repel them ... Or maby someone dump human urine around them... We had rabbits chew down my Yukka one year in the middle of winter .. I was sooooo ticked so hubbs now will take turns and urinate around our blue spruce, Also when I cut his hair I throw it out around my flower garden and land scape ... Usually the birds steal the hair but I think some sent stays untill it rains ...a small chicken wire fence, it is cheap and will def keep them out ......

We put blood meal around some lilies a few years ago, but the dogs ate it. Last year rabbits ate my green beans three times; and started on them this year, So hubby fenced them in using bird netting and posts. So far, nothing has gotten at them.

DH did his best "Elmer Fudd" act. The bunny lost. Let me just put it that way. Haven't seen any other bunnies either.
I feel bad but not terribly bad. They can eat whatever they want in the back yard and in the woods & fields near the house. It's not like they are desperate for food this time of year.
Sorry about the beans, Bella. That's so disheartening. Glad you have them fenced this year so you can enjoy your crop.

The bunnies weren't the only culprit. I caught a chipmunk eating them too. Brazen critters!

since we have had a cat the last couple years the rabbits --squirrels and other smaller critters pretty well stay away from the yard. I see them further out in the pasture but theres not as many as before . In years past I had to use strips of wire fencing to "' cage "" the plants that they seemed to prefer . I stood strips about a foot high around the plants . For the bean rows I would stretch a strip on either side down the row, with the pole beans once they were up and climbing I could remove the strips --- so maybe critters preferred the young tender growth. Its so frustrating when the critters eat up our gardens and flower plants ....
