What purpose? Common Sage for culinary delights and antiseptic mouthwash? White Sage for Smudging and Cleansing your space? Sagebrush for making Cowboy movies?
There are others... Clary Sage, Pineapple Sage....I find them pretty to look at but not as versatile as Common.

I'm growing common culinary sage, for obvious reasons. I'm also growing salvia (May Nights). I think its probably the most common of salvias, but it has pretty purple flowers.

Mmmmmm, Sage and Mushroom sauce, Fresh Sage Stuffing, More Sage and Mushroom Sauce...Pretty sage designs under the skin of a roasting turkey....There is nothing finer. I don't know why they call it "common"?

Well well quote from my book Sage: Salvia species The sages are native to the North Mediterranean and are mostly perennial , shrubby plants that thrive on warm, dry soils. The great variety of their textured, velvety foliage -from pale grey-green to green splashed with silver or gold, as well as dark green leaves, of purple sage- makes them attractive garden plants as well as an invaluable addition to the cooks repertoire of seasonings . Pungent common Sage , Salvia officinalis There are broad and narrow-leaved varieties of common sage. Young green leaves are less pungent than the older , grey ones. Narrow-leaved has pretty lilac, blue, or white flowers, Broad-leaved sage seldom flowers. , any other you would like to know about? There are alot of types, some are a lil more mild than others It does not show May Nights... but may be the same as the one I mentioned Varigated are supposed to be less pungent .... The tricolor S.o. tricolor Perhaps the most striking of all sages, this has mottled green , cream, and pink leaves, and blue flowers. The flavor is quite gentle ...

Something I didn't know (From Dian Dincin Buchman's Herbal Medicine The Natural Way to Get Well and Stay Well,) Drink Sage Tea to lift a down mood. If available add a pinch of bruised clove and a pinch of pure ginseng powder (another antidepression herb).

He gestures pointing at the ginseng notation.
Funny thing, seed for ginseng doesn't turn up often on swaps, but it is grown (seed) and sold commercially. It does very well all over the lower 48 in its biome as an understory plant. Can grow in the feet of deciduous trees and under grape arbor.
Ginseng grown in situ from seed and not transplanted, can be sold as wild harvested. At a premium.

Well make sure you don't get the variegated kind they are milder, and when picking the leaves pick the tender ones instead of the Older ones they are more pungent
