My favorite garage sale book find is the Joy of Gardening by Dick Raymond. It's the companion book to the tv series of the same name that aired 30 some odd years ago. That's where I learned about wide row intensive gardening and green manures. By the time I found the book the show was no longer on but I've referred to it regularly throught the years.

Golly I need to go leaf raiding!!!!
great find!!!!
The other day we were on our way over to daughters house to pick up pecans. On the shoulder of the hiway out in the middle of nowhere, I spyed a baseball--grandson plays ball all the time so made Jim stop wait til car behind us passed then back up so I could get the ball for Dayton. It is a Rawlings baseball with the Texas rangers logo on it . a game ball or one bought at a game---any way he now has it displayed with his wooden bat that has his name engraved on it that Jim got at the bat factory bout 25 miles from here. Jim was there getting a truck load of saw dust and was talking to the plant manager and the guy made Dayton a bat to show Jim the process of how they do the custom made bats. Little League does not use wooden bats any more - so Dayton just displays his in his room.

Church sales, yard sales, Starvation Army have all been very very good for my stash of bonsai pots.
The big box stores sell badly cared for trees, without any directions. They die. The pots go on deep discount after a while at the Second Hand Store.
Good for me. I should be happier I guess with them big-box benefactors...
