Okay! Got the flyer and there is a 10 for $10 with the 11 free sale at meijer stores this week.. Now I know that many of you do not have this big box store but for those who do they do have some really good deals this time around... If I can't get the amount I need, as they have been selling out, I always get a rain check for what ever amount I can and I have even had my hubby and son get them too.
What I think is the good deal are the White and baby bella mushrooms 8oz(also great dehydrated)
5lb Michigan white potatoes.*(great dehydrated)
Michigan grown celery*( I may try dehydrating instead of freezing)
and one of our family's favorites is the Old orchard 100% frozen juice concentrate. I use the juice concentrate to make my sorbet and other fun things. like wine(as a base for fresh fruits as I don't always have tons of fresh fruit to go into wine).
And hunts HFCS free ketchup.
Ronzoni healthy harvest and regular pastas
Arid xx dry deodorant is also on the sale but I just filled my last rain-check a couple weeks ago for it... **
these are just the things that I really like buy up and stock up on but there are about 4 pages of the 10/10 items... I just usually don't buy many of the boxed and high processed stuffs.. (think mac and cheese to go cups/poptarts/breads/canned fruits that kind of thing.. but a good selection)
* I think that meijer does try to buy and use locally available things to each state that they are in.
**for the gals in the group I wanted to say that I got the dove clinical strength deodorant as I needed something strong and when I got it I saw that it has 20% active ingredient and this arrid xx dry has 19%
So I decided to pick it up a year ago and try it and it works as good as if not better than the clinical stuff! and the price!! $1 as compared to $7.99 is quite the rip off so I'll let you all decide! Also this week I had a coupon for Ban(which I used to use years ago as a teen)buy one get one free and they have ladies "smells" and were on sale for $2.22 I decided to buy a couple-vanilla fragrance and low and behold!! they also have 19% active ingredient... I have been using it this past week and really like that kind too. and it works very well! Plus the smell is very nice and not overpowering..
So now I have in my stash for only $12(plus tax)13 deodorants.. lol I won't need any for at least a year or so.. The men folk here tend to use it much fast than I do.. Must be the armpit hair.. erodes the deodorant!
So the dehydrator will be going full bore this week and next cuz potatoes at .20¢lb is pretty good.
Plus if you don't grow all the veggies that your family needs (and I know I don't) now is the time to be finding them for good prices from local/roadside venders... my local place still has some of the nicest huge bell peppers-mostly green right now but a few yellow and purple and just a couple that are turning red...ONLY .40¢ EACH! Whoot! I have been buying them for a few weeks now and freezing and vac packing them for this winter and next spring... I thought I had enuf last year but we ran out in March. Plus their hot peppers are doing better than mine as I only have a couple in a pot this year. So they are getting diced and frozen as well(and well labeled! lol) The place I buy my straw for my chickens also has veggies this year and had what I thought was a pound of very nice red onions for a buck and I picked them up to find when I got home that it was 2lbs and very sweet (for around here that is). I have missed out on the sweet corn a couple days running now.. but have plans to run out tomorrow and grab up a few dozen ears for the freezer.(and also a bit in the dehydrator).
