No not like that. He is a good kid and I have no intention of boiling him in oil or any such thing. ;D
DD's boyfriend went off with his family on vacation is all. Both parents and the eldest boy are dark brunettes. The other three are all gingers, one actually goes beyond that to strawberry. So when she told me they had got to where they were going taking turns driving and not stopping, and only an hour after they arrived her fella was already sunburned, I had to ask where they went. The Badlands.
What kind of mad bad crazy person hauls three pale as sin, shade grown, redheads out to the badlands in the middle of a drought!
That poor boy is going to be french fried by the time they get back.
I am just a trifle amazed is all.

Ohhh dear , have they never heard of sun block or hats or long sleeve light weight shirts. Its hard to image parents with pale skin kiddos not thinking ahead and preparing for preventing sunburns not to mention doctoring sunburns once they occur.
. Have these kids never been outside in the sunshine and gotten burned . Where are they from that the sun don't shine???

OMG that is sad!! What were they thinking? I have grand kids that are olive skinned and some as white as the background behind this writing, moms never go without sunblock! They always have it with them!

Ow, the poor kids. I hope the parents wise up and buy them some sunblock and protective clothing before they get hurt too bad.
Lots of people just don't understand that sunlight is NOT equally intense everywhere on the planet. Others don't allow for the additional time they spend outdoors while on vacation. Others wrongly think that the tan they get from sunless tanning products protects their skin from sunburn the way a natural tan does - nope!
I see this all the time where I live. Every year here during Spring Break college kids from points North come down here to party and "get a tan." Every year a few of them end up with sunburns severe enough to land them in the ER. Many more "only" end up getting burned so badly the first day that they can't enjoy the rest of their Spring Break. We get a fresh crop of "lobsters" every week in March and April. I feel bad for them, but if they won't heed the endless public service announcements about sunburn, they have to learn from experience.

My mom is a pale blonde and I'm a lightly tan brunette my mom before we went to eaa was saying I'd get skin cancer well she would have been a lobster if I didn't insist on her getting/taking sunblock after she fried last year I used none at all I burned pretty badly too even had skin that peeled off a nice copper lol however before I went back even in January when I was minimally getting sun lol I still had the tan lines lol
That's the great thing about gardening! Spend time outside in the sun start to build a tan and be less likely to burn lol

Yep, I was out in the garden a lot in early spring and built up a tan slowly. Now even in summer I can be out for a couple hours in midday before I start to burn. I am rockin' some fine "farmer tan" lines now. It's not a proper redneck tan because my hair is long enough that the back of my neck is white. My funniest-looking tan lines are from wearing wide strap flip flops out to the garden - the kids tease me about my Stripey Feet!

They live on the edge of the Allegany forest down in Pennsylvania. They are pretty outdoorsy, and for some reason all the redheads are studying for careers that keep them indoors. Except the crazy strawberry. After community college he spent a year as a missionary in middle of nowhere Africa, but now that he is back he is working as a bouncer in a bar. I reckon he is trying to let his skin grow back.
DD says her fella took sunblock with him, the highest spf he could find.
Hee hee, talking about stripes... One of the older girls dated a blond fella for a while. He would go golfing with his dad, said he mostly liked trying to crash the cart. We do not normally get harsh sun around here. Well the stars aligned and we got a day of harsh sun on one of the golfing days. So this boy went golfing on a harsh sun day wearing shorts, a tank top, and combat boots. Afterwards she brought him over because we have a tub, an air conditioner, and much aloe vera. ;D I saw barefoot and without a shirt, poor thing looked like he was wearing a wife beater with white socks. he was RED!
