Makes two semi-heroic servings
1 Lb dried black beans 4 cup water 1/2 cup hammy goodness Cook all till tender
1/2 cup chopped onion 1 garlic clove chopped chives (optional) dash oil
To one half portion of cooked beans (with liquid) add sauteed onions and garlic blend with outboard motor
re-heat in pan or micro
garnish with chopped chives
Eat
Hammy goodness I cook out ham bones and pack away in freezer agains dishes like this or Boston Baked Beans.

That sounds really good. I cook a lot of beans but haven't gotten into the black ones yet, this sounds like a good start. My only problem is getting a decent ham. The ones available at the supermarket just don't taste good at all to me anymore, certainly not like I remember from my childhood which were just plain bone in hams from the store. Mom always cooked the bone down in a huge pot of beans and was tasty. Don't know if it's the way pork is raised now or the curing process but something's changed. Thanks for sharing the recipe!
