So what are you doing this year to save some money at Christmas? I have a few things figured out for gifts for people so now I'm watching the sales. To some family and friends I always give homemade cookies and some canned treats as gifts. I have made the canned goods alrady and started on the cookie baking.
So what are you doing? What helpful hints do you have?

We have always made stuff for gifts, usually Jim does some wood working type stuff--hes made lamps --tables -- desks in years past . One year I found some really neat old advertizment type posters at a garage sale and Jim made some tree branch frames for them. the persons the gifts were for had rustic type decor . This year 2 of our granddaughters are redecorating their bedroom so I am making throw pillows in their colors . One room is using black velvet and other colors so those pillows will be in black velvet---with a sequin motif hand sewn on the front of the pillows . I will go over next week to see what else they need in there. Some shiny sparkling bright stuff... I have not decided what else for the rest of the family. Neither of the girls need clothing and they are at that age where they need to pick out their own -- yep girls are picky on what they wear so I don't bother with clothing . I will do baking later and then divide out the cookies and other goodies and candy making -- there a re some great grands--boys --- all little fellas so they are easy--- one brand new one so he gets a quilt and a little toy or such.

This year Christmas will be easy! My son & daughter-in-law are REI/Academy Sports types... I'm giving each of them a hydration system to use when they are hiking. One is a Camel-Back & I forget the brand name on the other one. My granddaughter will be easy, she's barely a year old. She's getting a 'Linus' blanket in lavender, a Peter Rabbit book, a Gumby DVD, a stuffed purple Tasmanian Devil that rolls up into a ball (?) & various little stocking stuffers. ;D Everybody else will get custom made jewelry, (hand made by me) or they will get some kind of sporting goods, depending upon the gender of the recipient.

I've been looking for free shipping! I've also been hunting for promo codes before ordering. It's helped some. I always thought that Amazon.com or Walmart would be the cheapest places. Not necessarily so! I actually found a knife set at Kmart that was cheaper at Walmart than Amazon and Cheaper at Kmart than Walmart. All three had free shipping. It pays to shop around a little.
