We sure can!
I put together a computer desk with kiri one time and DH just watched with his mouth hanging open. kiri likes to put together that assemble it yourself furniture. So I was just reading the instructions and handing her stuff and she was handling the screwdriver. I would tell her simple things like put the zoobeedoo through the thingie and then screw the whole thing to that panel right next to the hoosit. She would ask me for the whatchajigger and I would hand her the whatchajigger. We understood each other perfectly and we got the whole thing together in no time. DH had to check it all over inch by inch because he did not understand a word we had said, and thus was uncertain of the quality of our workmanship.

Don't forget tone of voice!
"Mom voice" is a powerful tool. Everybody who has or had a mom knows the tone that means "great job! fresh baked cookies are in the kitchen!" from the tone that means "total destruction is imminent, not even prayer will save you now", and all the variations in between.
You can be speaking swahili and a man will know what you are talking about if you apply mom voice properly.
Of course if you are not careful you may find that some random stranger has mowed your lawn and taken out the garbage because he happened to be caught in the blast radius when you gave your fella what for.
We must take care to only use this power for good.

Sometimes they have their own language until long after they've gone to school. Always fun to decipher.

I just saw this somewhere. When a woman says "what", it doesn't mean that she didn't hear you, it means that she's giving you a chance to change whatever you just said.

Ladies do I dare? A few translations for you fellas.
I used to project monitor a construction crew. One guy was divorced. The rest were single. when the crew was not doing what they were suppose to, I'd put my hands on my hips and made sure the divorced guy saw it. He'd motivate the rest of the crew to get their act together and stop screwing around. Hands on hips means, "I am frustrated and close to exploding." Single guys have not learned that yet, but a divorced guy has seen a lot of that!
I also tell my husband, "I want to look at..." or "Let me look at..." Which means da da da da! I want to look at something (not necessarily buy it!) However, if he gives me grief about wanting to look at something, I will find a way to buy it just to spite him Just let her look fellas!
