Well me and my buddies are heading out in the morning to scout our new lease. Will be getting our feeders set up. Luckly there are no cows or sheep on the land so we do not have to build pens around them. We get it year round has some big ponds so hopefully some fishing as well.
Going back in a few weeks to get our stands set up then come on November.

Cool beans - er, umm deer!
With that spotting on the one hog, looks like there was some domestic stock involved somewhere back in the woodpile. I'm no expert. Are those javalena? If so, take care when going back and forth to the stands. Especially if they get a bigger pack as the season goes on.

They are Feral hogs and are exactly what you stated. There were free range domestic pigs and bred with wild hogs. They are mean but also very skittish. We have a picture of one we know is over 600 pounds. There is no season you can harvest year round and also no limit you can harvest per year. Texas Parks and Wildlife classify them as a nuisance animal.

YOu have a beautiful family! It's great to see the grandkids out having fun fishing barefooted. We can not keep shoes on her. I was so worried the whole time cactus and mesguite thorns everywhere. I was a nervous wreck lol. But what can you do a 5 year old who hates shoes. Her aunt is the lady in the picture with her she was just about as worried as me if not more. Good news no thorns or catus got her she was fine. Thanks I think they are cuties as well.

Thanks TXDD My friend bought a hog trap and baited it. He wants one of the pigs. We do have alot of activity and have been told it is a good possibility to score a 165 or higher on a buck on the Boone and Crocket scale. We are trying to not shoot any young deer and focus on the older ones. But a big ole ten point comes out and says hi it is hard to resist even if it two or three years old. I am doing this for fun this time not so much meat but I will take the meat.
Like I said above I love to fish I throw a spinner bait catch about 6 bass in ten cast about 2 pounds each just for me then fish with the little ones. They are still wondering down to the pond I have caught my stuff lol.

Is that wavy crooked spike or are there points that don't show in the pic. I have only seen straight spikes before. [/quote]

If you look at the first buck picture you will see another one. We need to cull these two out as they seem to have bad genetics. I can't see points on them but hopefully we see them and get a better look and they are just very young normal bucks.

Thought of you this week. While driving home Sunday, the car imediately in front chose to deer hunt on the highway. Never saw a deer fly 20 feet in the air and do flips at the same time. Fortunately for the car owner, they were okay. The car and the deer didn't make it. This was a very large buck.
