Well, I no longer have a redneck driveway.... That non running junk car in the front yard is now gone to it's new home. Glad you were able to get it taken care of kay. Of course if you could have held on to it for 2 weeks, ya coulda spray painted it red (if it weren't already) and put a string of lighted deer in front with a santa hangin out the driver window wavin.

Was very sorely tempted to do that!!! Unfortunately, the real deer have a problem with the lighted deer...... Talk about war with the neighbors.....

Years ago, had a neighbor that removed the engine from his truck and put in another one . Left the old engine block sitting in his yard. Wify fussed for awhile and he kept promising to haul it of to junk yard or where ever old engines go but didn't get around to it so dear wify dug a big deep hole next to the object and then managed with help to roll if off into the hole then they covered it up. Problem solved . I always wondered after they moved if any one had reason to dig in that back yard and found the offending object and what they thought...

Mornin!
LOL ML! Well if they leave it there long enough, even that engine will compost.
Made some jelly yesterday and got the lemon tree heavily mulched and Christmas lights lit in the branches. Looks like it's fine this morning. Thermometer said 35 this morning at about 8AM. Not sure if it actually reached freezing or not. Still got sick kids at home today, but oldest should be able to go back to school tomorrow. Soon as I hack up this lung I'll be fine today. LOL.
Lemon curd is the plan for today. If I have time left over, I'll start the molasses sugar cookies. Also gotta start the beef jerkey. If I don't have some of that to give, the neighbor may not talk to me for the rest of the year. LOL.
Have a great day everyone.

It snowed again last noct. This is twice the amount of times it snowed compared to last year.
I haven't kept track of if OH has a bow-black powder season, if we do Bambi is screwed.

Happy New Year ya'll!
Lots and lots of rain last night. Hope that's a good sign for the new year. Need to change a belt on wife's vehicle today and get back to work on the truck as well. MAY start some mater and pepper seeds later today.

Still raining quite a bit here. Good amount last night. Temps staying in 40'sF at night, 50's-60's daytime right now.
Volunteer bok/pak choy is bolting due to up and down temps.
This is pretty much the kind of January I consider "normal" weather-wise. We've taken a couple-three shots at 32F in December, should probably take a couple more sometime in January to be truly "normal".
If we can just get some regular rain this spring, 2013 should blow out the last couple years in garden production. I hope, I hope.......

Amen to that TDD----- sure could use rain come this spring . hopefully we will receive our fair share !!! I do believe our gardens are gonna be important this coming year. More so than before perhaps.
I been battling an on coming cold--or some sort of crappy stuff going around here, felt better yesterday and this evening than last week. Heads still stuffy feeling but not running the temps so thats a good thing...

I'm thinking There was some Texican rain in the past few days. Or at least the TV weather person said so...
Were in the middle of a thaw. its almost Tshirt weather, so I filled all my WS totes. The last one I had, and my next imaginary tote will get mostly flower starts for Sapling-In-Chief's new campground.

Not kidding it's nasty stuff. I started feeling cruddy before Thanksgiving and took until after Christmas to start getting back to normal. Even then, the lungs weren't what they should have been. Pretty much back to normal now.
Saw on the news a couple days ago that there is actually 2-3 different strains of flu going, so it is possible to get the flu more than once this year. I'd much rather get the 'short duration, intense, would you please bury me now' flu than the 'I'm going to make you feel a little worse each day until you can't breathe anymore in about a month' flu.
Hope you are feeling better, or will right quick ML!

Usually I'm gettin' told to shut up A thaw is supposed to be 'right around the corner', unfortunately its been right around the corner for a week or so. I think I got a late lead on (and late requests for) Bo-dArc seedlings. A couple of fruits on supposed to be on their way to me. I think I got a hub cap or sumpthin' to use as a germinating pan.

For only the sixteenth time in the last 100 years Punxatawny Phil didn't see his shadow this morning. Spring starts in two weeks...

I believe it. I would not be a bit surprised if last night's frost is the last one I will get this year. The pine trees beat Punxatawney Phil to the punch, though - my corner of the world has been coated in yellow pollen for close to two weeks.
I am not sticking the tomatoes and peppers and eggplants outside quiiiiite yet. But I probably will get the bigger ones outside in two weeks if the extended forecast looks good. Which means I will need to start hardening them off soon.
The downside is that I might be testing the heat tolerance of my Wando peas sooner rather than later. Hope I get a crop before they croak!
