OMG, that snake in the cabinet would've done me in!!!! Wonder how the heck it got in there, let alone in the house to begin with. Sad about the dishwasher, tho. Reminds me of a story of what they called a 'snake house'; near where hubby grew up. There were snakes in the basement, and no matter how many times they thought they got rid of them, they kept showing up. The people who lived there moved out, and apparently the story got around, and it sat empty after that. Only good thing; there weren't any poisonous ones up there; just garter snakes. Still yuck.

Yikes; no place for snakes, for sure!!!!! I'm waiting for it to get cold enough to go wandering in the woods. Don't wanna run into them critters, for sure....but need to go scout for 'stuff'; never can tell what you'll find. Good stuff for crafting, etc, and no one's been down in there for years. Sooo; yeah, I need a life. ;D

My boss lives in a neighborhood on the river where the houses average about $200,000 or more. In front of one house, is a very nice large green mailbox duct-taped to the post! Been like that for weeks-wish I had the time to figure out how to do a picture-I'll get it eventually!

That's funny!! We had a neighbor who made his mailbox post out of old farm machinery parts. Thought the post office would frown on that, but apparently not.

Like I said, I am from the sticks so I have seen plenty!!! For example, my Dad wanted a lawn mower to pull behind the 4-wheeler. So, he took for old pushmowers, cut the handles off, welded them together and there ya go! haha! People around here are also famous for combining multiple mobile homes. Like, putting two or three side by side and knocking out walls.

We had a neighbor, ( 6 kids) that put 2 mobile homes together, up close to the road, to live in while they built their home , back closer to the woods. They simply sat the 2 close together than built a wide entry way between the 2 connecting the doors , doors didn't match up so it was extra wide and served as a mud room type entry. Once the home was built and they moved in --- were planning on tearing down the trailor house contraption when some one stopped and asked could they buy it. --- Problem solved the new owners paid cash and took it apart and moved it off to another location.

My story is sorta like Marie Louise's. Had a guy here a few years back who took two very old school buses that had side exit emergency doors. He put them side by side and built him a hallway between the two and had him a comfy little two room home. The hospitality was always there, the coal stove was always warm in the winter and the beer was always cold. I don't necessarily call that "Redneck". I call it "Makin' Due with wehat ya got". Steve

Good point there, tweed. My Dad was like that; always tried to make do or recycle, rather than buy new. Hmmm....are clotheslines redneck??? I've had them for many years; tho they are considered an 'eyesore' in many areas. There is nothing like that scent of fresh air when you bring them in; fabric softeners can't duplicate that.

No pins?? I remember my Mom hanging clothes in the dead of winter, and finally bringing them in to hang in the porch to dry. They were frozen; and the jeans stood up along the wall ;D until they thawed enough to bring in. Then they dried over chairs by the stove. That's gotta be hillbilly. Nearly everything got ironed; even sheets. Wow; have we got it made these days, or what.

It stayed out til almost dark, then was brought in and whatever wasn't dry was put on radiators. Yes, we ironed almost everything, well mostly me, that was one of my chores. Its funny though, I didn't really mind and still don't mind ironing today. Though its mostly hubby's shirts. I just love to make the stuff look nice.

Temporary grow out cage for bunnies: Take one green garden wagon, layer bottom with brown paper sacks, line one end with them too for windbreak, Layer hay from dog's hay pile, take apart pet carrier and turn solid bottom upside down as hidey hole for babies. Take heavy glass ashtray and put in one corner for water pond, grab glass corn plate for pellet trough. Cut piece of bead board for spot where handle goes through and wire to cart with picture wire. Thread 2 nylon hay bale ties along one side to tie top on securely. Scrounge a piece of masonite from pile in garage that bead board came out of ... pure de luck it is exactly the size needed, place on top of wagon and tie down with baling ties after loading with baby bunnies. Then, put the 3" x 14" x 3' heavy oak threshold on top to keep neighborhood cats and dogs from chewing through ties to get to babies.

when the neighbor died , his family was looking over the property as they were forced to sell. i was talking to one who kept longingly staring at a huge pile of rubbish. he turned toward me and said theres a 100 years worth of family " heirlooms " in that " dump " over there. ;D it was all i could do to keep from busting out laughin'. never heard anyone use the word heirlooms and dump in the same sentence. no pics on this puter but trust me when i say it was mostly rusty cans and such . i don't think american pickers could find anything there.

heirlooms and dumps---hahhaa
got a sis in law who searches out old homesteads and digs out bottles etc.
she found a very strange flat silver object -- with a totally naked lady raised figure on one side--
it was a match box ! dated back to the 1800s

Wow, that's a neat find. Did she find out what that might sell for?? I could do that...dig in 'stuff'; lol
Would guess this is redneck - the neighbor still has the Christmas lights strung up, and turned on, on his dog kennel fence. He's got a yardlight, so it's not a security thing; lol ;D
