Yeah, we spent the first 15 years of our marriage doing all the moving around, and this is the 'retirement' home Before now, I only had 2 other gardens and we moved within 3 years of me starting them, so I didn't do any more after that ;D

We started gardening in about '78, had 3 or 4 since then, and did figure this would be where we'd retire, too...but things change, and one never knows. I was always one who liked to move around a lot, but think we're at the age where we should settle down - somewhere. ;D

Well just went out and can blow smoke rings from the high 40's temps. It is supposed to be mid eighties by Saturday so all is good. Should be my last cold rainy snap of the season. Now the heat will kick in see how many of these mater blooms set before it hits.

garden is still wet but workable--got the toms and peppers out --they look great--- beans is up -- picked more spinach and lettuce -- planted more carrots squash and radishes and cilantro and other such things.
Strawberrys are blooming and have some green berries but something is eating the leaves , can't find any insects or worms but see lots of tiny holes in the leaves ...
finally finished cleaning another flwbed of weeds and crappy stuff. One more to do!!!

Here are a few roses blooming they came with the house. A red and a yellow I have no idea what they are but they are 8 plus inches the blooms. And what I think is a spiderwort.

They really smell purdy too. They have not kicked in full gear yet and will be loaded soon as April gets here. LOL I read how everybody says you got to do this add this that lots of additives are needed. Well I can promise I do nothing no water they are mixed with hedges and lawn. I whack them down as they grow extremely tall not a climber just grow tall cut me everytime I mow. I get them with the hedge trimmer the clippers the weed eater what ever is handy and they just keep going and going they do not care.

Oh I forgot finally saw a few bush beans coming up after ten days and the heavy rain the day after I planted the seed. I see about 10 plants out of couple hundred seeds. I think they all washed away in the rain but time will tell.

Beautiful roses, dobber. I've not had much luck with those, unfortunately. Really should try again, tho.

Been gardening since 1975. I've had a garden in every place I've lived. Some much better than others The ones that didn't fare well had too much shade due to the trees surrounding our property. We thought the last place we lived would be our 'retirement' place but I hated the town and so after a lot of work on the yard and the house we chose to move on. I'm much happier here. Yesterday we moved some of the rogue raspberries out of the veggie garden and back to the patch; planted two black currant bushes and this morning Paintman extended the garden by 33sf (3 ft x 11 ft). The original one was a raised bed, this will be too as soon as we can buy some boards to frame it and fill it in I'm sure if he had of thought ahead on this, he would have bought the lumber yesterday when the stores were open. Tomorrow is soon enough, lol

See my cucs and watermelon have come up. I never have any luck with cucumbers though maybe get one or 2. Lots of blooms on the maters setting happy about that. Strawberries are doing good. Have a Cubanelle frying pepper that is green about 7 inches long never grew them before so do they go red before you pick them or do you eat them green?

Still no maters ripe have over 30 lil babies set on the plants. I am happy last year got 3 total eaters after the late plant due to the cold and the drought. Have several more starts to get in the ground maybe today or tomorrow. See the first jalapeno forming yummy. My Allstar strawberry has about 40 almost ripe and ready to pick very soon.

I had to put my strawberry jar in the garage today. It's turned cold and we are hearing forecasts of 2 to 4 inches of snow, as much as 7 inches forecast for Rochester, NY I just heard.
