aaahhhh been busy all day with laundry and house cleaning and telephone---lol---- answered one time and ended up talking to a lady for over an hour that I just met yesterday in the insurance Office!!!! Shes new to this area , not met many people that she feels comfortable with but for what ever reason she likes Jim and I !!! she in the past has gardened but just recently bought a large enough place to have her own garden next year, was living in rental house before. So we chatted about every thing under the sun today...
Sun was out today here but it remained cool and a tad windy. i did pick some lettuce and green onions for tonights salad. And some turnip greens for dinner, those are fall winter crops here. My spinach --first planting the grass hoppers ate--- second planting came up here and there then disapeared over night. So no spinach , I may try covering one bed with plastic to warm it up enufff for seedlings then harden it off if & when it will come up. Have not decided how much trouble I wanna go to for fresh spinach!!! LOL

I got a new face (writing) that I need to get my thinking in a row to explain how I got the daft idea's I got that grew out of my pet trees.
Tom looks around. Hmm even that came out swacked. I'll be back after my next trial of shooting my foot in my mouth...

It never fails, that anything I can do, somebody else does fundamentally better, faster, or both. If my personal dynamic was; 'the boy who dies with the most toys, wins'. Man! I'd be screwed. I've been pretty much resigned to; 'who ever has the most fun before he dies, wins'. An' swacked as it sounds, I can live with that...

Actually I am taking the opposite tac regarding sick. I am trying to sweat it out. Trimming the willow tree to get more winter light in the garden and about to start prepping rows for the onion starts Dixondale Farms will be sending soon. I am taking that slow as don't have a lot of stamina today, but I'll get-er-done!

tdd hope ya feel better soon! sometimes ya just need to slow down and take it easy. so glad my kids are grown and on their own but I do miss having the boogers around, under foot hollaring MOMMMM hes touching me -- --oh wait no I don't ---LOL
I went out and stripped off some of the dry pods of the butter beans---picked the last of the editable crop last week --shelled out these for next springs planting ... I been pulling green onions now for a month or so. I have 2 different beds of year round green onions--- bunching onions from big brother and Egythian walking onions I have had for years now. then I stacked the firewood Jim brought up from the back 40--- we had trees down due to the drought so he cut it up for heating this year. Save on the propane bill some.
I tired this evening.

Thanks W8in and ML. Today's 'bout the same as yesterday. Maybe a little more sniffly today. Talked to a fella yesterday that said it is a new strain of the flu. He had it for the month of October. Yep, a month minus 2 days. Said if I'm about 1/2 way thru it the fun part is yet to come. Ah well, will keep dosing with oregano oil, grapefruit seed extract, B/C vitamins and juice. Need to get some mushrooms or mushroom bullion and make soup for the antiviral effect. Going to try to finish prepping for the onion starts today. Need to start making side dishes for turkey day so don't have to make them all on the day. Want to try to make lemon jelly if I have time today. And then there's that pork picnic that I need to make Carolina type pulled pork BBQ from today. At least I'm going to be eating good!

An' whats sis French Toast swill anyways?
So much for the plan of sugaring up the little bugger and turning him back wired to his mother...

Mornin all.
Drive safe Penny. You're braver than I W8in. I wouldn't shop today fer nothin'! Good luck! Have a great day Blue. Copp, ya gotta get some sugar in the boy. It's a Grand tradition (pun intended).
Busy morning here. Truck delivered a load of wood chips, phone ringing lots, wife running errands before heading off to work. Middle child camping in the bathroom due to this crud going around. Whether sick or not, all kiddos are energetic and in a mood to rumble. LOL.
Need to sanitize the cooler and look up when to start the turkey brining. Didn't make any side dishes yesterday as just felt too cruddy. So need to do that today. Did get the pork roast done. It was good.
And the world continues to turn!

Sorry for your loss Wendy. Tough to lose so many friends this close together, especially when you are so young. So is this phone for Christmas? Or "Just Cuz"?

I'm not sure which is harder to bear; gettin' old, or gettin' sick.
Still it beats aspirating on too many bottles of booze...

Morning all,
Drive safe Penny. Very right Copp.
Turkey day was good. Turkey turned out wonderfully moist (maybe the best we've ever done). Ate around 1:30PM. Slept. Watched Cowboy game. Wish they could play for more than 1 quarter per game. Had a thanksgiving sandwich (Everything served at the meal on 1 sandwich). Watched Punkin Chunkin. Slept a lot.
I did move a few wheelbarrow loads of wood chips in between basting the turkey. I even buried some about a foot deep to act as a hugelkulture type of thing. Spread some 21 N on top of the chips to help them break down and soften before burying.
Chest got pretty congesty last night so had to have the wife depotamize (massage term for wailing on my back with cupped hands) me which helped.
Today is move some more wood chips so we can get the car in the driveway. Otherwise just chillin today.

He's not a bad (grand) kid. Just I think he was delivered from a sears & Roebuck catalog: his mother, grand parents, and all of the greats (or twice greats) I know of, met few things in the kitchen that put them off.
The seedling could starve while in residence at the Kroger...
